Markets end higher: Metal, power, realty, IT stks rally

The markets started the new series on a positive note by ending the day on an extremely strong note. Today turnover was high on both cash and F&O side and volatility was very low. Cues from equity markets across the globe were encouraging as most of the Asian peers ended in green. Midcaps were also shining and the BSE Midcap index outperformed the benchmark indices. All the key BSE indices ended in green led by metal, power and realty and IT indices. Sensex was up 359.93 points or 1.89% at 19363.19, and the Nifty up 128.15 points or 2.27% at 5762.75. About 1865 shares have advanced, 1133 shares declined, and 82 shares are unchanged. DLF, Reliance Energy, Sterlite, Unitech, Nalco, Tata Power, MTNL, TCS and HDFC were among the top gainers on indices. Among the few losers were HUL, Ambuja Cements, Bajaj Auto, GSK, HPCL and Hero Honda. The BSE Midcap Index ended at 8,553.56 up 2.28%. The BSE Smallcap Index ended at 10,526.02 up 1.3%. The BSE Bankex was up 2%. Kotak Mahindra, Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Union Bank, IOB, Karnataka Bank moved upwards. The BSE Capital Goods Index was up 1% at 19,626.69. Punj Loyd, Areva T&D, Carborundum, AIA Engineering, Thermax Triveni Engg closed higher. The BSE Auto Index closed at 5,454.24 up 0.6%. Amtek Auto, Cummins, TVS Motor, Ashok Leyland, Maruti Suzuki closed higher. The BSE Metal Index closed was up 5%. Sterlie, Sesa Goa, Jindal Steel, JindalStainless, Tata Steel, SAIL, Hind Zinc closed higher. The BSE FMCG Index closed at 2,158.73 up 2%. United Spirits, GlaxoSmith Con, ITC, Dabur India, Marico, ITC, Bata India closed higher. BSE Oil and Gas Index closed up over 2%. Reliance Natura, Essar Oil, Reliance Petro, Petronet LNG, ONGC ended higher. The BSE IT Index was at 4,203.10 up 3%. Financial Tech, Satyam, I-Flex Solution, TCS, Mphasis closed higher. BSE Realty Index up over 3.5%. Phoenix Mills, DLF, Omaxe, Ansal Propertie, Puravankara Pro closed higher. Mkt trades with hefty gains: Metal, IT, realty stocks up The markets are trading firm at the higher levels on heavy buying seen in scrips across sectors. Metal, IT and realty, power stocks are the top gainers on the indices. Cues from Asia were strong and most of the Asia ended in green. All the key BSE indices were trading in green led by the metal, power and realty index. BSE midcaps have outperformed the benchmark indices and is up 1.75%. At 2.21 hrs IST, the Sensex is up 252.16 points or 1.33% at 19255.42, and the Nifty up 101.90 points or 1.81% at 5736.50. About 1858 shares have advanced, 1123 shares declined, and 98 shares are unchanged. Market breadth has been impressive since morning today on both NSE and BSE.Rupee was quoting at 39.69 against US dollar. Top gainers on the Sensex are DLF at Rs 925 up 4.89%, Reliance Energy at Rs 1,727 up 3.80% and HDFC Bank at Rs 1,735 up 3.45%. Top losers on the Sensex are Ambuja Cements at Rs 149.15 down 1.42%, HUL at Rs 208.60 down 0.76% and Bajaj Auto at Rs 2,720 down 0.16%. Realty index is still buzzing and is up over 3% and attracting attention on account of repealing of urban land ceiling act by the Govt of Maharasthra. Metal index is up over 4% and in the metal space, Sterlite inds, Mah Seamless, Hind Zinc and Jindal Steel were the top gainers. On the macroeconomic front, GDP growth figure for the Q2 of current fiscal were little better than the expectation. It grew at 8.9% in thesecond quarter of current fiscal versus 10.2% during the same quarter previous year. Reliance Petro, Mundra Project, IDFC, RNRl and Reliance Industries were some of the most active counters on the bourses toay. UTV has been buzzing on the speculation that Walt Disney may buy stake in the counter. At 1 pm, the Sensex is up 352.39 points or 1.85% at 19355.65, and the Nifty up 128.95 points or 2.29% at 5763.55. About 1926 shares have advanced, 1055 shares declined, and 98 shares are unchanged. Top losers on the Nifty are Ambuja Cements at Rs 149.55 down 1.19%, Bajaj Auto at Rs 2,710 down 1% and Hero Honda at Rs 733.10 down 0.96%. GDP numbers for the second quarter of current fiscal has been slightly better than the expectations. It grew at the rate of 8.9% in the Q2 versus 10.2% in the Q2 of previous year. In the metal space, Sterlite inds, Mah Seamless, Hind Zinc and Jindal Steel were the top gainers. In the real estate sector, Phoenix Mills, Omaxe, Ansal Properties and DLF were the top gainers . Mkts come off from early high's; metal stocks rally The markets have slipped from its early highs on the back of selling pressure witnessed at the higher level. All the key BSE indices were trading in green led by the metal, power and realty index. BSE midcaps are again outperforming the broader markets today. Realty index is still buzzing and attracting attention on account of repealing of urban land ceiling act by the Govt of Maharasthra. At 10.07 hrs IST, the Sensex is up 133.95 points or 0.70% at 19137.21, and the Nifty up 42.25 points or 0.75% at 5676.85. About 1850 shares have advanced, 1139 shares declined, and 90 shares are unchanged. Market breadth has been good since opening with higher volumes. On NSE, the advance decline ratio was 3:1. Re was quoting at 39.71 against USD. Top gainers on the Sensex are SBI at Rs 2,318.20 up 2.13%, Maruti Suzuki at Rs 1,008 up 1.77% and DLF at Rs 897 up 1.72%. Top losers on the Sensex are Bajaj Auto at Rs 2,700 down 0.89%, ICICI Bank at Rs 1,158.20 down 0.34% and ONGC at Rs 1,138 down 0.28%. Reliance Petro, Ispat, RIL were some of the most active counters on the bourses today. Power, cap good, bank and IT stocks were looking smart in the early trade. Market breadth was positive and the volume was high. Asian markets moved higher today. Japan's Nikkei gained 1.19% or 184.71 points at 15,698.45, Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 0.31% or 89.45 points at 28,571.99, Taiwan's Taiwan Weighted surged 1.33% or 112.05 points at 8,559.08, Singapore's Straits Times advanced 0.95% or 32.91 points at 3,511.13 and South Korea's Seoul Composite shot up 1.35% or 25.37 points at 1,902.93.
