Market ends with modest loss; Oil & gas, IT gain

Markets volatile; TCS, Infosys top gainers
Markets have made smart recovery from its day’s lows, but are still trading in red. Technology stocks continue to trade strong as Rupee is trading above 41/USD. The BSE IT Index has outperformed the other sectoral indices; it was up 1.33% at 4441. At 14.29 pm, the Sensex is down 8.68 points or 0.05% at 17364.33, and the Nifty down 2.30 points or 0.04% at 5142.35.
About 1218 shares have advanced, 1650 shares declined, and 218 shares are unchanged.
The top gainers on the Sensex are TCS, Infosys and SBI.
Most active shares on BSE are Aishwarya Tele, Rel Capital and Idea Cellular.
Markets lackluster; BHEL, L&T, DLF slide
The markets are trading weak nearly its day’s low. Nifty is hovering around 5100 level. The BSE capital goods, bank, realty, and power stocks are trading weak. However, IT, FMCG and metal indices are trading positive.
At 1.10 pm, the Sensex is down 118.28 points or 0.68% at 17254.73, and the Nifty down 38.30 points or 0.74% at 5106.35.
About 1305 shares have advanced, 1559 shares declined, and 222 shares are unchanged.
Top gainers of the Sensex are TCS at Rs 966.50 up 3.05%, Tata Steel at Rs 833.00 up 2.03% and Infosys at Rs 1,846.00 up 1.41%.
Top losers on the Sensex are BHEL at Rs 1,797 up 3.41%, L&T at Rs 2,962 up 3.24% and DLF at Rs 648 up 2.99%.
Markets choppy; IT, metal, FMCG stocks gain
The markets continue to trade quiet with negative bias as capital goods, bank and power stocks witnessing selling pressure. However, buying interest has been seen in IT, FMCG and metal as all these indices are up over 1%.
About 1466 shares have advanced, 1375 shares declined, and 245 shares are unchanged.
Tata Steel, TCS and ITC top gainers on the Sensex.
However, BHEL, Bharti Airtel and ICICI Bank top losers on the Sensex.
Most active shares on BSE Aishwarya Tele, Bharti Airtel and Rel Capital.
Markets trade weak; TCS, Cairn India top gainers
The markets are trading quiet with negative bias. Bank, Capital goods, power indices are witnessing selling pressure. However, buying interest has been seen in IT, metal, pharma and FMCG indices. IT stocks continue to trade higher after rupee slipped to 8-month low of Rs 40.96 per US dollar. At 10.37 hrs IST, the Sensex is down 47.47 points or 0.27% at 17325.54, and the Nifty down 13.35 points or 0.26% at 5131.30.
About 1429 shares have advanced, 1437 shares declined, and 220 shares are unchanged. TCS, HUL, Tata Steel and Cairn India are top gainers on the bourses. However, BHEL, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank and BPCL are top losers on the bourses. Satyam, Infosys, Wipro, TCS and HCL Technologies among major gainers. Asian markets Asian markets were trading mixed. China's Shanghai Composite rose 0.61% or 22.65 points at 3,756.159. Japan's Nikkei advanced 0.93% or 130.23 points at 14,179.49. Taiwan's Taiwan Weighted gained 1.07% or 94.66 points at 8,952.03. However, Hong Kong's Hang Seng was down 0.24% or 62.46 points at 26,199.67. Singapore's Straits Times fell 0.04% or 1.33 points at 3,247.42. South Korea's Seoul Composite declined 0.06% or 1.19 points at 1,857.87. US markets US markets rose to a four month high. Financial and energy shares sparked the positive moves on the US indices. Fannie Mae climbed 8.9% after dropping as much as 7.3% as the government loosed restrictions on the company. The Dow Jones industrial average added 51.29 points, or 0.40%, to 13,020.83. Market cues:
