Wall Street ends mixed

CNBC's Margaret Brennan - Tuesday’s market was mixed as investors rate the lowest consumer confidence reading in five-years and digested more negative housing data. The Dow suffered it’s first drop in three sessions but was only down by 16 points, the Nasdaq managed to continue it’s gains adding 14 points in Tuesday’s session, thanks impart to an upgrade by Citigroup on Internet engine Yahoo from hold to buy, shares gained more than 4%.

Shares of homebuilders Toll Brothers and KB Homes took a tumble following news that US home prices plunged a record 11% in the past year that according to rating agencies Standard and Poor’s.

Crude oil prices gained 36 cents to close at USD 101.22/bbl.

  • Dow down 16 pts, Nasdaq adds 14 pts
