Wall Street ends lower; Dow slips 60 points

It was another bad session ending another bad week and one of the worst starts ever to a new year. Yesterday's losses came despite encouraging blue-chip earnings reports from G-E- & I-B-M. But President Bush's late-morning pledge to deliver a stimulus package aggravated losses, and analysts talked of a possible need for capitulation in a market that has made repeated efforts at finding a bottom but has failed. Yesterday Dow slipped 59.91 points, or 0.49%, to 12,099.30. The broader S&P 500 index declined 8.06 points, or 0.60%, to 1,325.19, while the technology-focused Nasdaq plunged 6.88 points, or 0.29%, to 2,340.02. A look at how the Indian ADRs performed:
