US markets gave up most of their earlier gains in afternoon session. Stocks rallied on M&A news & better than expected retail sales. But Yahoo plunged on the news that Microsoft has walked away from a deal with Yahoo. Financials, excluding Lehman Brothers were the top gainer. Lehman Brothers shares started the day at a six-year low, then after wild swings, shaved another 4.4% off of that, following news that CFO Erin Callan and Operating Chief Joseph Gregory were ousted. From the economic corner, May retail sales increased by 1.2%, excluding autos. In other economic news, initial jobless claims came in higher than expected. The Dow gained 57.81 points, or 0.48%, to 12,141.58. The Standard & Poor's 500 index advanced 4.38 points, or 0.33%, to 1,339.87, while the Nasdaq composite index surged 10.34 points, or 0.43%, to 2,404.35. A look at how the Indian ADRs performed:
