US mkts end off day's high; Dow up 66 pts

US markets finished higher, despite profit booking in the last half-hour of trading. Wall Street cheered what appeared to be a tame inflation reading. The CBOE Volatility Index, or VIX, finished at 17.63, its 10th straight close below 20. Consumer prices ticked up 0.2 percent in April, less than expected. Core inflation, which excludes volatile food and energy costs, climbed 0.1 percent. In other economic news, foreclosures rose 4 percent in April from the previous month. The Dow Jones ended 66 points higher at 12898, the Nasdaq shut shop at 2497, up just 2 points. the S&P 500 closed 6 points higher at 1,409. A look at how the Indian ADRs performed:
