US markets closed mixed as investors juggled a mixed bag of news. A tepid outlook from Yahoo, HP's bid for EDS and a surprising resilience in retail sales led to mixed reactions.
Financials were the day's biggest decliners, falling 1.5 percent while energy shares were the biggest gainers, climbing 1.1 percent
In economic news, retail sales fell 0.2 percent in April.
The Dow Jones ended 44 points lower at 12832, the Nasdaq however shut shop at 2495, up 7 points. The S&P 500 closed almost flat at 1,403.
Crude is hovering near 126 dollars after briefly touching a new intra-day record of 126.98 dollars after the Iranian President said a proposal to reduce the country's crude output was being reviewed by experts.
