In the US markets, major indices declined while overall ended mixed, led by retailers and financial companies, after consumer confidence slumped to the lowest in 28 years and surging crude oil prices fuelled worries about the economy.
And even though the markets booked solid gains for the week, they ended lower for the day.
The Dow Jones ended 5.86 points down at 12,986.80 while the Nasdaq shut shop at 2528.85 down 4.88 points or 0.19%. The S&P 500 Index closed at 1,425.35, up 1.78 points or 0.13%.
The crude oil price surged to USD 127.82 a barrel on Friday.
