Nifty futures adds 33 lakh shares in open interest

Very volatile session for the F&O space today, but its not reflected in the volumes because the turnover is about Rs 40,000 crore. But the Nifty future discounts slipped to about 65 points towards last half an hour of trade and we saw a lot of short positions build up in Nifty futures. In the real estate pack Unitech and DLF seeing a good amount of short positions and the stock went for a steep fall in the cash market. The stocks ended up 4% and 6% respectively. They have added nearly 16 lakh and 7 lakh shares in open interest respectively. After India Cements decalred its results, there were some short positions build up seen in the stock with adding nearly 15 lakh shares in open interest positions. Amongst the Reliance, the Reliance Infrastructure and RNRL where some of the stocks which we saw steep falls with the stocks down nearly 10% each and a lot of open interest positions build up in RNRL with nearly 12 lakh shares. Hindalco was up 2% and JP Associates was was up nearly 1% in the cash market and these two stocks saw some reductions in open interest positions. |
