ICICI Bank adds 8.7 lakh shares in April future OI

CNBC-TV18's research analyst, Anichya Shah has given F&O highlights: The F&O space is not looking great, especially with the markets coming off. The rollovers were already low to start with and have not really picked up significantly. Market wide rollovers is somewhere between 16-17%. It was at about 30-35% over the last few expiries and that was on an even larger OI base. Currently, F&O rollovers aren’t looking extremely great. CoC has not significantly inched up in the April series. For the Nifty however, the rollovers have only picked up. It is at about 22-23% there.

Some semblance of short rollovers but what's interesting is that the Nifty is still holding a premium. Some bit of cash selling coupled with some bit of intraday longs at lower positions have kept the Nifty still in a mild premium and the short rollover cost has reduced from about 70 to 20 points to about 11 to 15 points. So no aggressive short rollovers yet but we may see that going forward, if the market continues to remain weak.

Some stocks that have stood out - Hindalco on the metal space has seen pretty good rollovers, close to about 32% and has added about 15.4 lakh shares in the next series. The stock is currently holding a positive CoC in the April series. The long rollover cost is anywhere between 0.8-0.9% and is looking positive from the metal space.

ICICI Bank has seen sort of a flattish rollover cost has added about 8.7 lakh shares and it holding a premium in the next month and is one stock from the largecap banking space along with HDFC Bank that is seeing a rollovers pickup.

S Kumars which the sell off was initially triggered by a bit of cash selling in the morning, we are seeing the F&O space play a bit of catch up - 4.8 lakh shares added in the March series and even Cairn India which has hardly seen any rollovers till now, is seeing some fresh short buildup in both the March and the April series.
