Although about a 100-110 stocks have sold off between 5% or more in the F&O space. This is out of a total of 228 stocks. So, about 45-46% have lost more than 5%. That’s pretty much reflects what's happened in the F&O space today. The Nifty futures saw July actually close on Last Traded Prices (LTP) basis, below that 3,800 level. Fresh shorts did come in after we broke the 3,900 level; fresh shorts did come in, in the last dieing 10 odd minutes after we broke that 3,850 level which is why one is seeing about a 15% OI buildup and a huge discount as those shorts just got piled on throughout the day. Stock Specific Action: - Ranbaxy has been seeing 50% OI buildup over the last two trading sessions and it is down about 25% over the last two trading sessions, so this stock in the news, has come in for a fair bit of pain. Chambal Fertilisers is down about 11% in today's trade and that’s about 20% OI buildup. We saw lot of shorting Nagarjuna Fertilisers and GNFC as well. SBI, which is down about 8.8%, gave the private banks company in the latter half of the trade today and that’s a huge - close to about 10% OI buildup of about 4.5 lakh shares. ICICI Bank was down 9% with a 9% OI buildup. So, banks saw a key bit of shorting in today's trade. Orchid gave Ranbaxy company from the pharma space with about 14% OI buildup and huge shorting was seen there. Two other big boys that saw a fair bit of shorting were the likes of L&T and ONGC - both seeing about 5% OI buildup and losing a fair bit of their price in the process. |
