Unwind at a movie festival this weekend

Collecting film memorablia is in these days and Osian's Neville Tuli may have given it the impetus it needed in India because he's thrown himself into this with as much passion as he did with psintings. Well, this is art of a different kind and he's bringing it to the masses, as well as the cheese and wine kinda of crowd. 

This time at the Osian's 9th Cinefan Film Festival, rare Japanese posters of films is on preview from June 8 onward at the Jehangir Art Gallery. They are part of Osian's archive collection and fear not...there are not all on Japanese horror movies or about their manga comics.

They are from all over the world. So, don't be surprised to stumble upon Lawrence of Arabia, Godfather or even The Graduate. Appreciate Satyajit Ray's 'Aparajito' written in Japanese calligraphy and if you understand none of that, then try and understand what makes Japanese poster art special. That is precisely why they are being called Japanese posters because they have been done in Japanese calligraphy.
 
So, sink into the world of poster art and then later into a comfortable seat at the NCPA to catch a selection of films from Osian's 9th Cinefan Film Festival of Asian & Arab cinema. So, save the date on your calendar - a day spent amidst art & culture would be a day spent well!
