The government may have cut excise duties on edible oils, and managed to curb edible oil prices a little. But Petroleum Minister Murli Deora says that's not enough. With crude prices still trading around the USD 100 mark, he says PSU oil companies are bleeding, and need quick aid from the government.

Murli Deora, Petroleum Minister said, “I told the PM Oil PSUs are bleeding and yesterday the Cabinet Committee on prices decided to scrap all the import customs on edible oils. So I requested the PM that the first priority should be given to crude oil, because prices have gone up. I don’t think this proposal will be passed on to the cabinet. We have hardly increased crude prices. The Finance Min has provided us with bonds, but they need to provide us with appropriate no of bonds.”
