Why was the judiciary targeted this time and who is behind these blasts. Let’s have a look at the links that the police has established till now, reports CNBC-TV18.
Another terror attack in Uttar Pradesh, the fourth major one in two years in the state. This one unprecedented, for the first time targeting the judicial system. The state's police desperately searched for clues. By late evening, sketches of a couple of suspects were released. A name floated. Shamim and link was made between him and the main accused, Wali Ullah, in the blasts at Varanasi's Sankat Mochan temple in March last year but there was no clear indication about who would have targeted the courts and why. Looking for any leads it could find, the police even barged into the IBN studios, where an eyewitness to the blasts was being interviewed.
He said he had some work in the court. He asked me to look after his cycle and bag. I didn't see what was in the bag. One tenuous link investigators could find was the use of Ammonium Nitrate in the explosives, police sources say this could mean the involvement of Bangladesh based Harkat Ul Jihadi Islamia (HUJI) though the communal angle is something analysts are wary about. According to Sharat Pradhan, Senior Journalist, Lucknow, " This angle that some people were trying to project as if their intention was to incite communal fervour but it doesn't seem so otherwise the target would not have been the courts, it would have been some religious place." The other organisation that investigators will be looking at is the Jaish e Mohammad. The blasts came a week after three alleged Jaish terrorists were arrested in Lucknow. Their mission was to kidnap Rahul Gandhi. Sources say the reason for targeting courts could be the assault by local lawyers on the alleged Jaish suspects, when they were brought to Lucknow's court three days ago. But that still doesn't explain why the Faizabad and Varanasi courts, where lawyers were killed, were targeted. And with the scenes of the blasts completely overrun by court officials and curious bystanders, the tough job of finding out who could be responsible for the blasts will become tougher for the investigators. |
