As the US gears up for its Presidential and Congressional elections in November, time is running out for the completion of the civilian nuclear agreement.

Even as the Indian government tries to persuade its Leftist allies, US administration and Republican Party officials seem resigned to the delay. Meanwhile, the Democrats, anticipating major electoral gains, including the White House, are in no hurry to push for the completion of the deal.

Henry Kissinger - Former US Secretary of State, “We Americans have said what there is to say about it. And if it cannot be managed with this government, we will find other ways to co-operate. It's not the essence of this relationship.”

Kamal Nath, Commerce Minister said, “Well, we're trying to move forward with it.”
