On the eve of India's third and final test of the series against Pakistan, the team has been ravaged by injury. Sachin Tendulkar is unlikely to play because of a knee problem and Vice-Captain M S Dhoni's ankle badly needs rest, reports CNBC-TV18.

Even as Team India went through its practice routine, you could not help but feel the injury shoe was clearly on the other foot. The seam bowling department has already been ravaged. Now, Sachin Tendulkar is unlikely to play with a knee injury. Gautam Gambhir has been called in as a replacement and the management is clearly worried that a long season may have finally caught up.

Even M S Dhoni, who has been battling a knee injury is on the injury list. The buzz is that he needs a week's rest to be fully fit, but if Tendulkar misses out, Dhoni may have to pad up.

Ironically, after struggling to find 11 fit men to take the field at Kolkata, the visitors have a full squad to pick from. Pakistan have a proud record of not having lost to India in a test series since 1979 and they are keen on it.
