Carollers and non-carollers alike can enjoy the Annual Cake Show in Bangalore, featuring a cake that is 60-feet long. It is all edible, but you might not want to eat these works of art, reports CNBC-TV18’s Deepa Balakrishnan.
“It started as a hobby from school days. I went to Europe and in Belgium I saw small models. I came back and tried to build the Eiffel Tower. We kept small exhibits in our department store,” said C Ramachandran, Store Owner. That passion with cake and batter started off this exhibition in 1969. It draws the crowds in hordes, some are here to see if the Santa Villa's for real, while others to see the delicately-done floral arrangements and the classy Veena. When the expo ends on December 31, these will be given away to winners of a lucky draw. Its been Bangalore's most famous tradition for over 30 years, to have a cake show every Christmas, but we had not seen one over the last couple of years, because of problems within the company Nilgiris. This year, its returned and you couldn't have asked for a more royal return than this. |
