External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee hopes the Indo-US nuclear deal will go through despite a majority of the speakers in parliament opposing its implementation in the last debate. Speaking to CNBC-TV18's Karan Thapar, Mukherjee said the issue was not framed as per parliamentary practice.

Pranab Mukherjee, External Affairs Minister, said, “Various Political parties have expressed their views inside parliament outside parliament; it’s known. But, just to claim that, yes in the speeches the members have expressed their views, but the issue was not framed before the members as per the Parliamentary practice (of seeking a vote), because there was no scope of ascertaining the views and opinions of the house on the discussion, because the discussion took place under a rule in which this is not required and this is not relevant.”
