The Left is adamant that the debate should take place in this Parliamentary session, reports CNBC-TV18.

Left leader Prakash Karat said the Left would appeal to the BJP, to stand firm on its demand for a debate. He added that the Left would allow talks with the IAEA, only after the government clarified what these talks would serve.

Karat said this clarity would come from the meeting of the UPA-Left nuclear panel, that is slated to meet on November 16. He also said the Left would withdraw support to the government, if it went ahead with the deal.

According to Prakash Karat, General Secretary, CPI(M), "We will discuss tomorrow what the result of operationalising the nuclear deal will be. We have clearly mentioned that as long as we are supporting the government, the deal cannot go through. We have taken this stand based on our policies. The deal is not good for the country. Maximum members of the parliament are against this deal. The government should take the suggestions of the MPs before going ahead with the agreement."
