Bird flu in West Bengal

Nearly four lakh chicken will be culled in Birbhum and South Dinajpur districts in West Bengal.teams comprising experts from the national institute of communicable diseases will also visit the affected areas today.

The virus has reportedly killed over 35,000 poultry in the two districts. On Tuesday, the health ministry confirmed dead poultry samples had tested positive for the highly pathogenic H5N1 avian flu virus. This is the third time, bird flu has broken out in India.
