SCI to buy over 40 ships in 5 years: NW18

The Shipping Corporation of India, or SCI, will buy over 40 ships in five years, reports CNBC-TV18 quoting Newswire 18. It will fund the ship buys via 80% debt and 20% internal accruals.

 

SCI sees tanker and container freight rates firm for the next few years. It will sign a pact with a South African company for 50:50 JV in one-month.

 

The company’s capex is seen at USD 3.5-4 billion in the 11th five-year plan.
