Intel sees big market for mobile Internet device

Now that many manufacturers are ready with their ‘Mobile Internet Devices’, India may soon see the introduction of the product.

Last month, Samsung, Acer, Lenovo and Compaq showcased their MIDs in Vietnam and it is learnt that a dozen other manufacturers are soon to launch their own.

The MID is a palm-sized Internet-access device. Today, if you want Internet access while you are mobile, you have a few options — laptop, notebook or the Net-enabled mobile phone.

The first two are too big to be slipped into your pocket; the mobile phone has too small a screen for comfort.

But now, a device small enough to be carried in the shirt pocket and yet with a larger screen, is being introduced.
