The 156-year old Anheuser-Busch, which is the maker of Budweiser beer will be bought by Belgian brewer InBev for USD 52 billion. The Belgian company will now overtake Sab-Miller as the world's largest beermaker by volume. Members of the founding Busch family, including CEO August A. Busch IV initially opposed a sale. Incidentally, billionaire investor, Warren Buffet, is the second-largest shareholder with a 5% stake in Anheuser-Busch. At USD 70 a share, InBev is paying about 11 times Anheuser's projected earnings in 2009.
