Asian markets end lower

Asian markets ended lower. Hong Kong's Hang Seng lost 0.23% or 52.01 points at 22,745.60.

Japan's Nikkei plunged 1.33% or 188.09 points at 13,942.08.

Taiwan's Taiwan Weighted slipped 1.81% or 145.30 point at 7,902.44.

South Korea's Seoul Composite declined 0.56% or 9.72 points at 1,731.00.

However, Shanghai Composite gained 3.01% or 82.86 points at 2,831.74.

Singapore's Straits Times rose marginally by 0.31% or 9.15 points at 3,001.81.

Asian markets trading mixed; Shanghai up 4.7%

Asian markets were trading mixed. Shanghai Composite gained 4.75% or 130.66 points as China rose fuel prices by 17%.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng surged 1.56% or 355.66 points at 23,153.27.

Singapore's Straits Times rose 0.80% or 24.02 points at 3,016.68.

However, Japan's Nikkei plunged 1.43% or 201.66 points at 13,928.51.

Taiwan's Taiwan Weighted slipped 0.93% or 74.92 point at 7,972.82.

South Korea's Seoul Composite declined 0.54% or 9.43 points at 1,731.29.

Asian markets trading mixed

Asian markets were trading mixed. China's Shanghai Composite advanced 1.19% or 32.70 points at 2,781.58.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 1.70% or 387.83 points at 23,185.44.

Singapore's Straits Times gained 0.85% or 25.42 points at 3,018.08.

However, Japan's Nikkei was down 0.94% or 132.74 points at 13,997.43.

Taiwan's Taiwan Weighted was flat at 8,047.51.

South Korea's Seoul Composite was flat at 1,741.13.
