It was a harrowing Sunday for many in Maharashtra due to severe power cuts. Most parts of the state including Mumbai and many parts of Konkan, Nashik, Sangli, Kolhapur and Ahmednagar went without power, reports CNBC-TV18.
According to authorities, the crisis was caused by a technical problem at the 400 megawatt Parali plant in Maharashtra. Private companies drawing power from the grid put an extra strain on the system causing it to collapse, causing a consecutive failure of other grids. The power supply was restored only by late evening. |
