Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals (MRPL), a state-of-the-art grassroot refinery at Mangalore in Karnataka, today announced results for the quarter ended Sep. 30, 2009.

The company`s net profit rose 7.21 times to Rs 1,796.90 million for the quarter ended Sep. 30, 2009 as compared to Rs 249.20 million for the quarter ended Sep. 30, 2008.

Total Income declined 41.03% from Rs 134,645.50 million for the quarter ended Sep. 30, 2008 to Rs 79,399.10 million for the quarter ended Sep. 30, 2009.

Its net sales dropped 41.45% to Rs 78,661.80 million as against Rs 134,340 million in the same quarter previous year.

It reported earnings of Rs 1.02 a share registering growth of 7.29 times over the prior year period.
