lifaylon, You must have seen ad of SBI announcing 10.5% interest on 1000 days deposit (senior citizens to get more). Only some banks have hiked deposit rate. Take for instane, PNB is offering maximum rate of interest of 9.75% only, such a drastic reduction compared to SBI! One may not be wrong to conclude that PNB and many other banks (which have not hiked deposit rate to 10.5%) are not facing cash crunch to lend. May be RBI did not pay attention to this fact! ...

Leave it, Leave alone PSU banks. The way Fin.Min./RBI are apparently protecting ICICI Bank as if it has majority govt. stake, is really shocking. Hope the Special Audit of ICICI Bank by the RBI is candid. The Govt. (Fin.Min.) should not interfere with any independent action (which again is doubtful, the way RBI is being packed with ex-Fin.Min. mandrins)by the regulator of banks i.e. RBI. Also, RBI should continue to assert, just like during the regime of Dr.YV Reddy, in its role as monetary authority and also in its role as regulator of scheduled banks. The big question mark is whether RBI will be able to assert its role? ...

Yes, The sheer courage to initiate this thread some 10 months back by hindlevernet when the market was very bullish, and withstanding criticisms,is laudable (more than his expertise in reading charts). my_money, The problem is slowly creeping into residential properties also. In Dehi Dwarka, brokers are not getting even enquiries for purchase of flats for the last one month. Further, the sellers are ready to dispose of flats at rates atleast 10% less than they were ready just a month back. Some brokers in the area, who never dealt with rental business, are forced to do the same just to keep themselves busy and recover their monthly expenditure. They say that after Diwali, things may even get worse. ...
