Sir,
There is no compulsion of short covering on or before expiry day. So how can bounce back happen??? See there is fundamental problem with sector dude. Which has worsened before 1 month. Management itself is saying about problem & margins contraction.
By the way; take the best decision, as always....

How much man?? after all who ppl r doing short they should buy again to cover position, so I dont think, means it will go deep but it will take solid bounce back.Juz watch out Future tradings Prices

Hi practitioner,
In my view, SCI will use the expanded paid-up capital via this bonus issue towards capex as planned by it recently [as informed on 14.8.08 to NSE that SCI has signed the shipbuilding contracts for construction and delivery of 4 nos. Panamax (Kamsarmax) Bulk Carriers of 80655 t.dwt. each with M/s. STX shipyard].
Since you are holding for 4/5 years then I think you will see SCI to be at least @Rs.500 after 4/5 years....

You are right VMG... The stock has a cyclical nature... has a good support and resistance defined strongly backed by fundamental and dividend play...
I follow a strategy of fine tuning my positions at every correction and peak with a final view to keep it for long term...
Other stocks I like on dividend side are Allahabad Bank, Andhra bank, Bank of Maharashtra, Laksmi Machine Works etc....

This stock has a history of going down to 125-130 level during a correction phase.
But worth keeping in a portfolio for long term. If nothing else just enjoy the dividends.

Presently its a value buy, its trading below its BOOK VALUE of Rs.200/-.
Shipping companies wont be affected much by economic slowdown bcoz transportation of goods from one place to another not going to stop.
Todays F&O data of 5.19% cut in open interest and rising price by 5% means that short covering happening.
Technically, its in oversold area and one can consider buying for short term target of Rs.190 - 220 before XB (by keeping trailing stoploss of Rs.12-15).

This is a value buy... Its other thing that in such time nobody will care for value. This is a PSU stock and downside is limited after such a correction. A consistent dividend paying stock with a PE of approx. 5. Have been tracking since very long... 220/230 is limit for the stock on the upperside. 145 is a lucrative level... just added another 130 in my portfolio...
This may go down further and worthwhile to add... pure dividend and value pay

Shipping Corporation Of India Ltd. has informed the Exchange that at the Annual General Meeting of the company to be held on September 29, 2008, the shareholders may approve the proposal to declare final dividend @ 40% per share for the year 2007-08 (apart from the interim dividend @ 45% per share which has been already paid to the shareholders on March 18, 2008).
