India’s recent telecom player IKF Technologies Ltd. is launching an innovative physical pinless calling card across Europe by the name of `121 Calling’, IKF’s new pinless calling card promises most cost-effective and highest quality services in the European telecommunications space through its fully owned subsidiary company - IKF Europe GmbH, based out of prestigious Messe Turm, Frankfurt, Germany’s.
‘121 Calling’ card’s pinless dialing option can be used for any phone including regular landlines and cell phones across Europe. After successfully test launching its’ calling cards in USA and Canada, IKF’s ‘121 calling’ cards are coming to be known as one of the cheapest, user-friendly and quality calling cards among competitors.
“‘121 Calling’ pinless cards are so convenient and easy to use that a customer would never opt for a conventional calling card again” says Mr Pranav Prakash, President Technologies of IKF Technologies Ltd.
According to Mr Pranav “With the proposed unrestricted internet telephony service and access to multiple providers in India, IKF is planning to launch similar intelligent calling solutions and services for Indian users. IKF wants to retain its trendsetting and leadership position by introducing innovative usercentric services and products for domestic and international calling in India”.

IKF TECH BAGS TELECOM LICENCE IN GEORGIA
Ravi Teja Sharma, New Delhi
The Economic Times (Delhi edition)
India’s robust telecom industry isn’t just attracting the world’s biggest telecom companies, it’s also producing some unusual local players with global dreams. Noida-based IKF Technologies has bagged a unified telecom service licence in an auction in Georgia, which could be its backdoor entry into telecom operations in the European Union (EU). “Georgia is expected to get EU membership in a year. So, we expect to get a licence to operate across EU nations,” said IKF Technologies president Pranav Prakash. So far only larger players such as Bharti and RCOM have ventured overseas.
The company had incorporated a new company—IKF Georgia—three months ago and is investing Rs 100 crore in the country for setting up telecom infrastructure. It plans to deploy another Rs 200 crore within a year. “We have partnered with German telecom infrastructure provider Ancotel for providing infrastructure in Georgia,” added Prakash.
Armed with a new licence for which it had to deposit a fee of 0,000, IKF Georgia will start operations by using a hybrid technology of WiMax, WiFi and radio frequency to provide Internet access and voice services. Ancotel and IKF Georgia will jointly install infrastructure depending on the need of an area and its population density. IKF Technologies is the India partner for Ancotel and is handling their brand-building and local support in India. Ancotel provides telecom infrastructure to VSNL and Aircel in India. IKF is planning to offer retail e-commerce, calling cards, government services and banking services on mobiles....

Bio-diesel policy finally ready, will go to Cabinet on Thursday

After deliberations amongst six ministries and Planning Commission for atleast two years, the government may announce a national bio-diesel policy on Thursday. The Cabinet would take up the issue of national biodiesel policy in its meeting.
The policy is expected to make 5% blending of bio-diesel compulsory for all the oil companies besides creating a National Bio-fuel Development Board (NBDB).
A group of ministers (GoM) headed by agriculture minister Sharad Pawar have been deliberating on drafting a policy which give impetus to bio-diesel production in the country. Bio diesel may significantly reduce country’s oil imports.
However, the Planning Commission has opposed setting up of the NBDB. The Commission had informed the GoM in July that it would not be feasible for such a high level Board, similar to the Cabinet Commmittee with representatives from six ministries, to meet frequently to take up issues in the bio-fuel sector.
The Commission also said that once the National Bio-fuel Policy is cleared, there is no need for a high level Board, as the proposed Board would have little role to play. The cabinet is expected to take a call on the formation of NBDB.
In the absence of a bio diesel policy, several companies have already invested close to Rs 500 crore in cultivation of jatropha. However, the industry has remained fragmented in the absence of a clear policy direction.
Many companies such as Ruchi Soya, D1 Williamson Magor Bio Fuel Limited, IKF Green Fuel Ltd, Reliance Life Sciences etc have made substantial investment in promoting jatropha cultivation across the country. Because of fragmented nature of industry, there no official data on the amount of land under jatropha cultivation in the country. However according to estimates more than 5 lakh hectares of mostly waste land have been used for jatropha cultivation in the country.
In the absence of a policy, the companies engaged in jatropha cultivation have been ‘cautious’ in their investment plans. “We will go full stream after the policy is announced,” Vishal Rawat, President, Boidisel, IKF Green Fuel told FE.
However, according to Pradeep Bhar, Managing Director, D1 Williamson Magor Bio Fuel, which has more than 60,000 hectares of jatropha plantation, marketing of bio diesel is not an issue as ita a joint venture company between UK based D1-BP Fuel Crops and Williamson Magor group. “We will be commissioning two jatropha processing plants by the end of 2009,” Bhar said.
Many Indian states Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and North Eastern states have already promoted jatropha plantation in a big way. Chhattisgarh has the most well-developed jatropha biodiesel programme in the country. It has given away 380 million jatropha seedlings to farmers, enough to cover 1.5 lakh hectares.
Biofuel industry believes that there is a huge opportunity exists for taking up jatropha cultivation in atleast one third of 33 million hectares of wasteland in the country, which would significantly reduce country’s oil imports bill.
Under the National Mission on Bio-Diesel, the rural development ministry had allocated Rs 50 crore for plantations of more thah 16 crore jatropha sapling across the 15 states. Under the government’s proposal, the bio diesel is expected to replace more than 20% of the country diesel consumption by 2011....
