While I agree with you on certain issue , you will but agree to disagree that there are some uncultured promoters who will only try to influence the price to their advantage, you would have noticed the the price of rain com has been range bound as I had predicted, its very fair to inform the boarders about these unscrupulous promoters, who had always underplayed the potential of calicinised coke business and merged rain calcining with Rain commodities only to dupe the investors with their cement business, I had also in this board given my point of view of the international prices of Cal.coke etc.
You are not a dud but a shrewed investor who is waiting on the fence waiting for the reddy's to buy back whatever their target buy out is and then make hay when the sun shines.My interest was to help the small investors to understand the actual story so that they don't buy out of greed and then loose everything they have, investors who hold rain com should not add but wait to sell their holding at Rs.307 plus from end Oct2008...

There was also a indication before that seperate foral letters to this offer would be sent to investors on the books of Rain com expressing the managements decision and the target end price with the quatities to be purchased by April 2009.

I dont think that any of the shareholders had recieved the offer of buy back so far,anyhow the reddy's have ensured that the scrip is range bound within the Rs.200 to Rs.216 range, investors are cold on the buy back hence not a very important event in the brouses anymore...

If one were to go by the advance tax payment done by MRPL of 1bn, this scrip should be quoting Rs.90 plus in the brouses,The results for the quarter should also be a excellent one otherwise what is the need to pay three times the advance tax of YOY.
This means Refining margins and expansion plans are in tact and is paying rich dividend to the company...

Dont psss nonsense comment without knowing the facts, The promoters are highly quakified technocrats who are experts in the field of consultation, ventures into energy sector, they have projects worth millions based on coal,gas, lignite, Hydro & now into nuclear in India.

GIPL is a company confined to energy in Gujarat, but KSK is a company into consultation & power ventures not only based on Coal, lignite,thermal & Gas, KSK has also the technical know how of the nuclear energy source and installation of reactors in India,led by a fundamentally good set of Technocrats of highest caliber, hence comparison with GIPL is baseless and not realistic,you should be able to compare this company to Big giants like Reliance power, Areava etc....

Dear Boldy, This buyback increases the stake of Reddys, though small, without the promoters dishing out the money. Further, the Reddys got a preferential offer at Rs 200. They would try to jack up the prices to a comfortable level to increase their wealth. The question is when? Stock market prices seldom reflects fundamentals of the company. Operators work as an extension of the owners to serve their interest. The buyback period is probably till March 09. I have an uncanny feeling that the price would be kept at current levels till the buyback is over. After that, what????? That is the moot question. One more thing to observe is that Reliance Mutual fund has entered the stock and has increased their holding in August - check mutual fund dumping or not. This was almost at the same time during Anil Ambani declared intention to get into Cement through RNRL. Divestment of the Cement business would help the Reddys in getting back their intended return. With cement capacities expanding, it would be difficult to sustain a 3+m ton cement capacity with pricing pressure and debt servicing. Just wait to see whether any other Reliance mutual fund is investing further. That would be a signal! Regards ...

Dear Friend, No need to get panic. Arvind is having good investments and it`s planning to sell it`s 49% stake to Reliance group. That news is confirm, only thing is news is not declared officially but it`s already there in the market with big players. Just look at intra day trading pattern, you will realize slowly buying is happening. Once it will come officially then see the price, it will climb 48-52 levels within 2-3 days. I know the internals via some sources. This is not for traders but only for the investers not to get panic and booking loss. You can average at current levels, it`s a good bet. I've been accumulating Rain Calcining way back when it quoted at 16/-. Just for the Record, Rain Commodities at the time of amalgamation quoted at Rs 130. Basically the structure of the three cos before amalgamation was: Rain Calcining : Producers of CPC Coke & Power at Vishakapatnam Rain Industries : Cement ( wholly owned subsidiary of Rain Comm) Rain Commodities : Marketing Co for CPC Coke. CII carbon, USA was acquired by Rain Commodities and hence was part of it. Post merger, Rain Calcining business was transferred to Rain Industries and Rain Industries (Cement business) as transferred to Rain Commodities. Net result (my take), Rain Calcining is merged with Rain Commodites. The swap ratio, i could have argued for then, but right now i'm not complaining. Why pray, u find the promoters unscrupulous ? Also u seem to suggest, the promoters are buying back the shares of the co. I'd clarify that its the Co ( Rain Commodities ) that's buying back the shares and not the promoters. Buy back is as such good for a co as a whole since it ups the eps of the co. regards ...

I think people keep getting confused between "Open Offer" and a "Buy back Offer". This is not an Open Offer where the co asks the shareholders to tender shares at a fixed price. It's a Buy Back where the co purchase shares for the open market at a maximum price of Rs 307/- per shares. Please note, the company can continue to buy shares form the mkt as long as the cmp is below 307/- ( subject to the stipulated amt set aside for buyback). ...
