There have been some comments about the PE of the company being around 10, so here is a short note:

1. The fully diluted equity base of the company after conversion of FCCBs and ESOP would be 181.2M Shares (ref page 44 of 2007-08 Annual report).

2. Consequently at the current price of around Rs. 340 per Share, the market cap (fully diluted equity base) would be around Rs. 6100cr.

3. The FY March 2008 PAT was ~Rs. 390cr. Hence the PE based on FY March 2008 nos is around +15

4. Citibank which holds around 3.5% was trying to sell out in August end. Not sure if this sale has been completed (Sept 10th today)

5. Another PEquity fund, General Altantic holds 9% of the company's shares.

Comments:

I see it difficult for any significant appreciation to happen over the next 2 to 3 quarters, especially there will be mark to market losses again on the forex loans (Q1 was around Rs. 100cr of loss due to MTM) because the Rs. has depreciated from 42 levels in June 2008 to 45 levels. There will be another writedown in September quarter.
