Uma You have the right mindset for investing with patience and the cues to look for but unfortunately the info you have is misleading. The P/E of Alok works out to 6 post the rights issue. Again in terms of budgetary relief, as already published in the media the relief will be directed more towards the farmers and labour associated to the textile industry. Further, only ailing companies where lot of population is dependent on such companies will get the relief. Alok can`t b considered as ailing company bcos it is profitable and has already availed of the concessional loans from the govt which has helped it to complete its modernisation and expansion plans. So if you ask me, what to do in the present situation, I would say wait for the scrip to take its natural path. The scrip has to dip to sub-20 levels and then once u give it a time span of more than a year, u will see it on its growth trajectory....

Good Luck to u, but I can not risk selling Alok at this stage with budget at such a short distance away. If it comes to 17 we will add more.

Textile sector has seen its worst and from here on it has more positive news waiting in terms of budgetary reliefs as it is labour intensive sector. Moreover USD exchange rate is favourable and as and when exports pick up it will be a bonus , until then we have our own domestic market of 1 Billion people. With a P/E of 1.74, Alok does not have much to worry. Rights has taken care of debt part of balance sheet, and hence company has a lot of breathing space. It will not have that much of interest burden as rights fully subscribed.

We being small investors should not panic, when there is so many things apparently in favour. If we chicken out at every flimsy pretext then we should not be in stock market and look for assured return in PPF, NSC, etc. We have seen through the storm so let`s not get worried about the last bit of dark clouds. Time demands caution but mixed with optimism.

Debt part is taken care of mostly through the rights issue and their books is in a lot improved condition post rights issue. With budget expected to give stimulus to labour intensive industries, (as more employment, even if with tax-cuts, will create trickle down effect and boost rest of economy), Alok seems to be a very good bet even at this price.

HOWEVER BIGGEST QUESTION IS THAT POST RIGHTS ISSUE, WE ALL HAVE 3 TIMES THE SHARES IN HAND THAN WHAT WE INITIALLY HAD. HOW MANY OF US WILL BE ABLE TO HOLD IT, IN CASE OF ANY CORRECTION IN MARKET.

So it may be better for small investors like us, to book part profit, slowlt at every level, unless we have the guts to stop looking daily at our portfolio. ...
