Birdie,

I did read about warriors post.. am planning to check it out today/tomrrow will come back with my views and about rajthackeray, i doubt very much if kannadigas are dominant business community anywehere... just check it out.... here all are doing business in karantaka except the kannadigas... i really feel sorry for these kannadigas... u should watch one lady who reads the news in one kannada channel, she is just too smart, good looking, can beat any BBC reader in terms of presentation skills.. can beat Demi Moore too in terms of looks.. wait i will get her name... LOL.. so its not that we dont have talent but we dont undrestand rat races..... in Bangalore all reddys are ruling the roost in real estate and all sindhis are ruling the roost in business.... and we have no clue about the rat race they are forcing on us, these communities... so sooner or later like they rehabiliate tribals they will have to rehabilitate the kanndiagas. i am very sure about that.... we cannot vanish coz we are not pushy.... god meant for us to have one place too...we thought it should be our own place but now looks like we have to be put in caves.. haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.. as there is no place anywhere else... lol lol.. u visit karnataka and you will vouch for what i am saying....

All gibberish skotak`s followers write on their home pages.... and thats the reason mod does not give autopublishign rights to skotak coz his followers trouble popular woman a lot... his followers want all women in India to roll chappatis.. thats how ugly they are.

Hey Chiddu was looking so good in suit at the G meet, come back fast so we can discuss things that matter. Why cant all our ministers be dressed this way and speak this way.

Dear Mod and god,

I am not reacting to jokers like ANANDINI, 8th wonder, Accolade, Mamashri, etc.. so what will u give me in return for such restraint?

I want to see a beautiful India....

1. where folks look rich, fresh, neat,

2. Where all palyas, oorus and villages look like english counties

3. Where folks would think its primitive and degrading to the soul to be noisy.

4. Where corrupt politicans cease to exist. All politicians who rule the roost should be as smart as Ramadoss. The likes of Devegowda and Karunandihi or Jaya should vanish from the scene.

Thats what i expect for the self restraint i am maintaining against a pack of jokers most of whom belong to the skotak gang! LOL

All those who practice righteous restraint should seek righteous boons like me.

Searching for direction in the market?

Time to start buying again!

Searching for direction in the market? This article is for you!

The fall in the Indian Equity Market is due to systemic global risk that is common to entire market and not specific to Indian Market. This has happened due to financial system instability caused or exacerbated by idiosyncratic events or conditions in financial intermediaries elsewhere (read US and Europe). Now that the growth in these developed economies have tappered greatly, the Emerging Markets will feel only ripple effects, which will however be compensated by domestic demand. Therefore, if both developed and emerging markets have fallen propotionately, the emerging markets, with their relatively higher growth rate, should send buy signals much sooner.

Out of these Emerging Markets India has reached the point where one can press BUY button and GO LONG. Now, I will elucidate the reasons. Indian GDP rate “may” fall marginally, but it will still remain the second fastest growing major economy. The dollar rise will make exports competitive once again. The negative effects of dollar rise will be adjusted by the falling crude price. As I mentioned earlier, the fall globally has been initiated by the over ambitious finacial players. The Indian finacial system is one of the most robust in the world. The government and RBI have shown commendable speed and sense of responsibility by taking timely monetary and fiscal measures like CRR cut etc. (If sources are to be believed, more are on cards – something like a mini budget). The pay commisssion and loan waiver will further fuel demand.

I would say, for India, it has been a bear market within a long term bull run (extending till 2040) caused by external factors beyond its control. This is definitely reason for Indian investor to be cheerful and look for buying opportunities, whenever they apear.

I consider that Indian market is at its bottom or very close to it. At this point I would like to bring in a fact which bring out that India is already over sold. We all know that the US market is close to recession. But legendary investor Warren Buffet has called BUY in the US equities. These are some of his famous words which he uttered on 17th october 2008.

Part - 2

For Christians, Lent is a time of reflection and reconciliation. In Saudi Arabia, interestingly, a convicted murderer awaiting capital punishment can be pardoned by the victim’s kin. Provided, of course, it is proven beyond doubt that the reason for the pardon is altruistic and not because money changed hands or the victim’s family felt threatened in any way.

Buddhist practice is founded on universal compassion. When Chinese soldiers prepared to execute monks in a Tibetan monastery, the residents began chanting prayers. “See how they pray for their lives!” exclaimed one soldier to a local resident. “Oh no,” responded the Tibetan. “They are praying for your souls, asking God to forgive you for you are only obeying orders.”

The new Bond as played by Daniel Craig in his first 007 film Casino Royale, reveals the soft side of the steely, “licensed-to-kill” Double-O agent. Casino Royale, the prequel to Quantum of Solace, showed Bond’s eyes becoming noticeably moist as he comes face-toface with the loss of Vesper, his love.

In ‘ Quantum of Solace’ , as he sets out across continents, hunting down villains operating in the guise of environment-conscious entrepreneurs, chasing and killing many in the process, is he doing this in the line of duty or is he on a personal mission of revenge, as ‘M’ suspects? Whatever the answer, Quantum does have its moments of introspection. And it makes clear that if it’s solace Bond is looking for, he’s not going to find it in revenge.

No solace in revenge

Posted by : day_trader

In the new Bond film Quantum of Solace, the chief protagonists, Secret Agent 007 and the attractive Camille, shoulder the unbearable burden of revenge even as they emerge physically unscathed from whizzing bullets and hot pursuit.

While Bond looks to avenge the death of Vesper, his ladylove, Camille seeks to mete out justice to the Bolivian general responsible for the violent death of family members.

The underlying theme of vengeance is not entirely new to the plot of a Bond thriller. This, despite Bond-creator Ian Fleming’s only contribution to this story being the title, Quantum of Solace. It is taken from a short story in For Your Eyes Only.

Quantum’s screen narrative includes insights from Bond’s friend Mathis and the sultry Camille. Consider Mathis’s last words to Bond as he lies limp in his arms: “The dead don’t care for vengeance... forgive Vesper, forgive yourself...” or words to that effect. And when the distraught Camille finally avenges the death of family by killing the Bolivian general, she turns to Bond and says: “I want to free you from your prison...”

Does she mean that revenge puts you in a prison of your own making while forgiveness sets you free? Did she want to free Bond of the burden of revenge by helping him kill the person who caused his girlfriend to die? Or does she want to free him by revealing to him the worthless emptiness that engulfs her once violence is returned in full?

It is worth contemplating because even a Bond film can offer many spiritual lessons on troubling subjects such as justice and revenge.

Alexandre Dumas’s story of the Count of Monte Cristo is all about betrayal, obsession and revenge. Set in the Napoleonic era, it revolves around the wronged young Edmond Dantes, who was thrown into the dreaded Chateau d’if for no fault of his own by those who he thought were his friends. He eventually manages to escape, finds a treasure trove, returning as the rich and powerful Count of Monte Cristo who went on to befriend and betray those who had ruined his life. Yet, it is in the final twist – when revenge and fury give way to regret and contrition – that Dumas really creates a masterpiece.

The reader is able to identify closely with all that the troubled protagonist is going through. It is only when Dantes can no longer shoulder the burden of revenge that he feels the need to forgive and move on. That’s when he truly experiences peace – with himself and with the world, having found release from the self-created dungeon of hate and vendetta. He is finally free of the demons that have been haunting him to distraction.

Go back a few million years to the Mahabharata. The underlying theme of the great epic is vengeance. When Draupadi vows to avenge the humiliation
she suffers in the court of Duryodhana, Yudishtira tries to talk her out of it. He enumerates the virtues of forgiveness in the face of all injury because he says, this world and the next belong to the one who forgives unconditionally.

It is a great aspiration and almost every religion and code of spiritual belief preaches the virtues of forgiveness. “Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do,” so prayed Jesus for his tormentors as he was crucified and left to die a painful and slow death. The sentiments of this moving and heartfelt prayer were echoed by Australian Gladys Staines when – with seemingly effortless magnanimity – she chose to forgive those who burnt her missionary husband and two young sons alive.

Anyone who travels India’s highways, particularly in the north of the country, would notice the many interesting, sometimes witty, sayings painted on the back of trucks. One of the most common is the warning: “Buri nazarwale, tera muh kala” or may you, who wish us ill, find your face blackened. But even more inspiring and evolved is the message displayed by some truck drivers: “Buri nazar wale, tera bhi bhalo ho”, or the simple and graceful hope that good may come to all, even those who wish us ill.

An eye for an eye would make the whole world go blind, as Mahatma Gandhi pointed out, even as he relentlessly promoted the practice of ahimsa or non-violence even in the face of utmost provocation. For, as Vidura says in the Mahabharata, “Fire falling on the grassless ground is extinguished of, itself.”

What about capital punishment, the power the state has given itself via the judicial system to take the life of a convicted murderer? Is that not a form of vengeance too and in complete disregard of the timeworn traditional concepts of atonement and forgiveness? Jainism regards forgiveness as a way of expressing compassion and ahimsa. So, too, the Jewish Yom Kippur and the Islamic Ramadan, which are meant specially for believers to atone, repent and forgive.
