Lupin Limited has informed the Exchange regarding the result of postal ballot seeking their approval for:- (i) the re-appointment of Dr. Kamal K. Sharma as Managing Director of the Company for a period of four years w.e.f. September 29, 2008 and approve the remuneration payable to him (Ordinary Resolution), (ii) the appointment of Mr. Nilesh Gupta as Executive Director of the Company for a period of five years w.e.f. October 8, 2008 and approve the remuneration payable to him (Special Resolution), and (iii) altering the "Lupin Employees Stock Option Plan 2003" (Special Resolution). As per the said results, Ordinary Resolution as mentioned in (i) was passed by majority. Special Resolution as mentioned in (ii) was passed by Special majority. Also the Special Resolution as mentioned in (iii) was passed by Special majority. Lupin Ltd has informed BSE that the members of the Company, by way of Postal Ballot, have passed the following resolutions, with requisite majority:
1. The re-appointment of Dr. Kamal K Sharma as Managing Director of the Company for a period of four years w.e.f. September 29, 2008 and approve the remuneration payable to him (Ordinary Resolution).

In phama industry, USFDA inspections are carried out at periodic intervals just to ensure that good manufacturing practices are not diluted,particularly for companies which export their products to US/ Europe etc Hence not a serious issue Inpection observations bring out issues which need attention of manufacturer to take appropriate steps inorder to improvise / improve upto US standards
Only in rare cases the business is adversely affected

Bad news came in today for Lupin. Like Ranbaxy, United States FDA has put one of Lupin`s plant under interrogation, sighting evidence that their manufacturing plant has discrepency. This is bad news for Lupin today, just like how it was for Ranbaxy. With this move, Lupin might see a drastic fall in coming days, starting tomorrow (Friday).
As I am not an investor in Lupin, I advise all investors of Lupin to be cautious and follow up news closely. Those who are in profit, its time to sell and buy on lower levels. Do not panic but make your moves sensibly.

I bought 1 lot of Lupin at 696 y\\\\\`day. the price has plummetted today by about 11%. Can anyone suggest why this fall, inspite of other pharma stocks doing well today. Should I hold or book losses. n.a.s....

Yes, agree. In stead of making any +ve or -ve comment, I would just say that it is better to come out of Lupin. The price, by chance, is an ideal opportunity to encash it and avoid any new crash and financial loss in future. What about the net profits of Merck, Dr Reddy, Glaxosmithcline, Indoco Remedies, Novartis, etc ? I think their PAT has also come down. It may further drag down their prices. Under the circumstances, any fresh idea ? Whatever it may be, just come of of any scrip in the pharma sector.

Lupin Limited has informed the Exchange that pursuant to the provisions of Section 192A of the Companies Act, 1956 (Act) read with the Companies (Passing of the Resolution by postal ballot) Rules, 2001 the Company is seeking their approvals by Postal ballot for following matters: 1) The re-appointment of Dr. Kamal K. Sharma as Managing Director of the Company for a period of four years w.e.f. The Company has appointed Ms. Neena Bhatia, Practising Company Secretary, as the Scrutinizer for conducting the Postal Ballot process in a fair and transparent manner. The Postal Ballot form should reach the Scrutinizer on or before the close of working hours on November 27, 2008. The Scrutinizer will submit her report to the Chairman of the Company after completion of the Scrutiny and the result of the postal ballot will be announced on November 28, 2008.
