Dear Pj,
I am not a critic of BJP but i did not like their stand now
I have said they have some very progressive leaders and they should take initiative
Actually they should have shared the credit but missed the bus
What mileage they are expecting out of their stand? They have big urban votes,Muslims seldom vote for them
If Vajpayee was active he would have handled it better

Very nice GV.

Ignore any criticism, as NDA has been one of the most progressive govt. this india has even seen. They have changed forever the landscape of this country by making govt. agenda development based from mileage based.

They might be trying to maintain some topic for polls perspective but overall, they would be knowing that deal is good for country.

GO INDIA GO ......

08 Sep 2008 15:17

I dont understand LEFT\\\\`s real goal. First they were opposing the deal due to Nuke tests condition, but now India has got waiver then why should they complain? Even they should have been satisfied with the deal which suported their view point also. It clearly tells us that LEFT is not at all thinking about country but merely playing politics for power.
It is Power abusing we call it. LEFT would fall on its face due to this egotist behaviour....

Tata Motors on Monday said it would not resume construction and commissioning work at its small-car plant in Singur, till there was clarity on the outcome of talks between the government and the opposition to end protests against the project.

Tata Motors Ltd is distressed at the limited clarity on the outcome of the discussions between the State Government of West Bengal and the representatives of the agitators in Singur," the company said in a statement.

"In view of the same, Tata Motors is obliged to continue the suspension of construction and commissioning work at the Nano Plant," it added.

The company, which had suspended work at the plant late last month, said that it would review its stated position only after it was "satisfied that the viability of the project is not being impinged, the integral nature of the mother plant and our ancillary units are being maintained."

Tatas said that all the stakeholders were committed to developing a long term congenial environment for smooth operations of the plant in Singur.

On Sunday, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee had announced suspension of a two-week long protest near the Tata Motors' small-car plant.

Banerjee, who has been demanding return of a portion of farm land given to Tata Motors, had said that the sit-in protest would be called off following an agreement with the state government during talks mediated by Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi.

The statement issued by the Governor said that the government would respond to the demands of those farmers who have not received compensation and a committee would be formed to ascertain the scope and settle the modalities within a week.

The NSG’s acceptance of the US proposal to drop a ban on nuclear trade with India will now put the Indo-US nuclear deal on the fast track. The approval came after almost three days of meeting in Vienna, ending a three-decade-long ban on India buying materials related to nuclear energy. The NSG meet was called to minimise any damage to the Non-Proliferation Treaty, which India has not joined.

However, the nuclear deal still needs to be ratified by the US Congress before it could take force. The Congress must act before adjourning in late September 2008 for US presidential elections. If that does not happen, the deal could be left to an uncertain fate under a new US administration that takes office next year.-bs

Manmohan showed courage. NSG waiver would boost exports and production internally as power shortage issue can be addressed. We should start a new thread \\\\

Update -

The Japanese government today defended its clearance of the Indo-US civil nuclear deal saying it had backed the deal to join an international consensus taking a "comprehensive perspective".

Japan has decided to join the consensus from a comprehensive viewpoint," Chief Cabinet Secretary Nobutaka Machimura told newsmen today saying nuclear power would help India fight global warming.

"It would be a tool to prevent the emission of a huge volume of green house gas as this emerging country of a billion people continues its rapid growth," the Japanese top official said.

Machimura was quoted by the Kyodo news agency as saying that the safeguards agreement India has reached with the IAEA would ensure inspection of India's nuclear facilities and increase transparency of the country's nuclear activities.

The top Japanese official said despite his country's backing of the civil nuclear deal at the key NSG meet in Vienna, Tokyo still had concerns.

"We would continue to assert that India should join the comprehensive test ban treaty," Machimura said.

Hi 9975797577,
The reactors can happen if we take advantage of this and push our self do it as a mission, which needs the successive govts put this in manifesto
If BJP still feels this as negative then we have to blame the politicians
I am very concerned about the views of Sinha -Bjp who is talking irrational and negative, may be people like Narendra modi,Arun Jaitley,Arun shouri etc come forward and take benefit for the people/country
We have ideal situation of geography to install more plant than china
From west Gujarat to East Calcutta we have sea,one of the most needed
Raw material other than uranium etc is Water. We have abundance of sea water from west to east almost 2/3 rd of the country
So we as citizens to push the govt

As many as 400 Indian and foreign firms are seen as the beneficiaries of the far-reaching verdict in Vienna on Saturday where the 45-member Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) decided to resume civilian nuclear commerce with India.

India\'s apex industry bodies, which have hailed the decision, also feel that the country can now attract over $40 billion in foreign investment over the next 10-15 years as the result of private sector entry into India\'s nuclear power generation.

Household waste collected weekly across Britain for recycling is being shipped and dumped in India, according to an investigation by ITVs \'Tonight programme\'.

As part of country\'s efforts to go green and improve the environment, UK councils ask households to carefully separate waste into different categories: plastics, metal, paper and glass so that they all can be recycled.

But, according to the investigation, they were shipped to India on the waste black market, which is cheaper. It costs up to 148 pounds to recycle a tonne of rubbish once it is separated but only 40 pounds to ship it to India.

The investigation found that a receipt put into a paper recycling bin in Essex turned up at the top of a stinking rubbish mount in Tamil Nadu. It was traced to the Walton-on-the-Naze home of Geoff Moore.

His receipt for CDs was found by investigators from ITV\'s \'Tonight\' programme at a sprawling rubbish tip in Tamil Nadu. They also found juice cartons, British newspapers, Walkers crisp packets, UK school reports and plastic bags.

All UK councils are required to recycle. But after householders separate their rubbish and bin workers collect it, councils pass it on to waste firms, who in turn use subcontractors. They are under no obligation to reveal what they actually do with it.

European Union law bans sending waste abroad for dumping but allows it to go overseas if it has already been separated and provided that it is actually recycled, according to the Sunday Mirror.

The Environment Agency promised to investigate the matter.

Paul Bettison of the Local Government Authority Environment Board called for a change in the law and said \"if a contractor refuses to reveal where materials are being sold it can undermine the whole process.\"

Yes. I believe like China which is planning to have around 15 nuclear reactors in the coming days, I believe India will also have a tremendous capacity addition with private sector also participating with due permission from the govt. and increase the power capacity of the country.

Yes. I do agree with you. somebody told me that UNESCO has approved best national anthem in the world as India's national anthem. I do not know it is true or not. ...
