Legendary Funds Manager Julian Robertson Predicts Utter Global Collapse Stemming From Bursting of Property Bubble

In a recent interview on CNBC with Ron Insana, one of the “old-timer”funds manager, Julian Robertson, predicted “utter global collapse” as a consequence of the bursting of the world-wide property bubble.
Often called “Never Been Wrong Robertson”, the former head of Tiger Management (once the largest hedge fund in the world), is extremely worried about the speculative bubble in real estate.
Specifically, he is very worried about a world that is sustained by American consumer spending which is in turn 1/4 sustained by a property bubble. He predicts that 20 million people could lose their homes once the property bubble bursts.
Even more worrisome, he thinks central banks around the globe out of desperation will try to re-inflate the world economy with more liquidity that will create an inflationary spiral unseen in the economic history of mankind. “Where does it end?”, Insana asked Robertson. “Utter global collapse,” he answered. But not just economic collapse … collapse of epic proportions. Collapse and disintegration of all infrastructure, including government. Inflation will run into the double and triple digits. “Food production will fall. People will be carrying around U.S .
dollars in wheelbarrows like Germany,” he said.
There will be “total collapse of public infrastructure. Total collapse of medical care systems. All public pension plans, Social Security will collapse. All corporate pension plans will collapse.”
“The American consumer is effectively now supporting the rest of the planet,” he continued. “Consumption rates in all other nations are falling, have fallen to the point that the tax revenues to governments, that the business and industries those nation states are providing is now a net negative number relative to total debt service and public cost, that this exists in virtually every nation state on the planet now.”
And for much of this “doom”, interestingly, he blames the Bush-Cheney “regime”. “They have now consolidated power and money on the planet to the maximum extent possible. The planet’s net liquidity, that is its, net free cash flow. Is now a negative number. The planet is not simply sinking into a sea of red ink; it is already sunk. The people just don’t realize it yet,” he said.
According to Robertson, “the Bush-Cheney regime is preparing the nation for transition from democracy into dictatorship because a dictatorship will be necessary to control, in 5 years time, food and water riots.” He said “the federal government, that part of Patriot II Act, the internal exile, that the government is going to have to build now huge detention compounds on federal lands, probably in the West where the land is available, to potentially house 50 million or more citizens that will be in financial ruin.”
In 10 years time, whoever is left will be effectively starting again, he said. “More importantly, and I’m trying to think how we imply this or how we express this to the people, what extraordinary times we are living in and how the destruction of the planet has been engineered by the Bushonian Cabal from 1980 to 1992, and then from 2001 to present, which has effectively destroyed the economic liquidity of the planet,”
he said.
Robertson ended the interview by saying that he hopes he is not alive to see this. “The lucky ones are the ones who are my age now,” he said.

I am doubtful about canada as it almost mirrors the american stock market. Most people love investing in warm countries than rather cold countries. This is a fact among most corporates and investors. Jatt,

No you come to bangalore and see HOW LAZY we are.. if there is a queue in bangalore it will be only in two places in hotels and cinema theaters.

Most workers in bangalore, the labor class either are from andhra or from tamilnadu

Most shopkeepers are malayalis.

Most beautiful flats are owned by northindians.. if i have to talk to the local kannadiga and feel good i have to visit a kannada cinema theater... its an occult science to spot the hardcorde kannadiga in bangalore in places of opulence or in places of toil. ROFL.

WHY? Coz bangalore is cold and naturally kapha predominates the dominant psyche and its cold and wet so kapha kapha all the way..they are relaxed folks... may be Tennyson penned LOTOS EATERS for us. LOL

Dear lifaylon,

I am only thinking that if the solution of financial crisis with in a week then what will happen to the market by that time.

Rather they should close the market for few days as various stocks have already lost almost 90% value.

It seems our govt itself wants this to continue as stocks lower circuit also have been reduced even after so much value erosion.

norms in business as any other so called capitalist nation ,or India. In fact more profit oriented than any other nation.
Regarding leftists in INDIA, they should better be left out.

Dear NODIK ji,

Thats the correct statement.

World has become so small, so as to be viewed from a tree top now.
Anything happens anywhere is telecasted. Everything is reported. Rarely things happen behind the camera.

Stock mkt is totally interlinked. This is very clear from what the central banks do unitedly to tide over the economical storms. That is the correct step too. Anybody can have any kind of opinion about US due to political thinking but US economy is linked with the world economy. Even China, a communist country, which is poles apart from US politics, is directly or indirectly involved with US economy. They get more investments than a democratic country like India gets.
Leftists here cannot see what happens.

When US mkts close, Asian mkts open. What happens there, fully reflects in Asian stock mkts. Then it spreads to India and Europe. We watch it every day.

As far as I am concerned, let all countries become strong and economically self sufficient.

dear knair jee,
Truely said in today times ,we cannot segregate the people of this world. The world has shrunk & interdependence & interliking has taken new dimention. IF any economy is affected the ripples will be felt all over. Especially US economy , makes a big differace to our country in many ways, apart from just dollar terms.
Decoupling from world economies , means back to square one.

Bubbu,

In warm countries the folks are pitta by nature.. pitta stands for fire and heat.... when one has fire in the belly then things get done. Thats why. Simple ayurvedic principles.

In cold countries they are mostly kapha if the country is also wet like England. They will take time to get wealthy but once they have attained it wealth will stay put.

But if the country is dry and cold then they are vata. AMERICA is by and large adn dry and cold? These folks expend energy fast and hibernate and when they get back their energy they again are in a rush to spend it. Energy could also mean money.

rn,

What you said about B`lore is right.I always felt that the mild cold weather in B`lore makes people a bit easy and relaxing type.

But the present B`lore no more the reflects the old B`lore. It became quite active due to outsiders, but it lost all its charm. It is getting hotter, green cover is slowly disappearing, pollution levels are reaching alarming levels, and places where there is heavey IT penetration became very untidy.still north B`lore seems to be ok.

Basavannagudi area is still intact and dont know how long it will be like that.

Probably kannadigas showed the highest levels of tolerence for outsiders though the situation seems to be changing slowly.

Some of the places like Sringeri and places like Horanadu in Malanadu region of western ghats show how beautiful and calm the rural karnataka is.

regards

I do not think so since we are in the fundamental denial period right now and results are based on certain speculation that has to be achieved by IFCI to register good profits.

G7 has announced an agreed plan BUT no blood has started to flow down the veins of the already dried-up financial world, it will take a week b4 something starts to happen
US fed will start to take stake by month-end in US banks and the take over of part equities will happen by end-third-week Markets until then markets will be volatile

Yes RBI has induced 60000cr into banks but most are for liquidity to take care of withdrawals the normal-routine and redemption call from Mutual-fund-holders which has come into play last 4days

In no-way this is going to help our stock-market for the time being
