GLOBAL MARKETS WEEKAHEAD - Worry spreads to emerging markets--Reuters.
The two day intermittant strike by bank employees on 18th and 20th will add to the misery of the traders. The NIFTY index will be certainly coming down the line to 3800 and no investor can have worth while trading .
Those who have DP and Trading account with banks may be hard hit, even if the market remain open. Now we can not put the blame on crude oil or FIIs and we have to carry the cross ourselves.
So it would be advisable to to avoid taking any cue from any one and follow your own pattern of trading for a week atleast.

Wed, Aug 13 10:34 PM Financials extend losses; S&P 500 off 1 pct
NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. stocks fell on Wednesday, sending the Dow and the S&P 500 down more than 1 percent, as financial shares sold off on worries about the widening scope of mortgage losses, while disappointing earnings from Deere & Co heightened concerns about the economy's health.
A rebound in oil prices added to the negative tone after a government report showed unexpectedly large declines in crude and gasoline stockpiles in the latest week.
Shares of Bank of America were a top drag on the S&P 500, falling more than 7 percent to $28.93, as the S&P financial index slid nearly 4 percent.
The Dow Jones industrial average fell 171.95 points, or 1.48 percent, to 11,470.52. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index declined 13.43 points, or 1.04 percent, to 1,276.16. The Nasdaq Composite Index shed 21.55 points, or 0.89 percent, to 2,409.06
Just posted for alerting the traders in this counter, Increased inflation figures is another posibility as seen in Mr. regarajan's remarks.

Transfer of Physical Shares

First write a letter to the company to help you to have the shares transfered in your joint names.I suggest you to have them in joint names only. Your wife as first person and your self as joint holder. Also request them to send a transfer deed and the stamp duty payable. You volunteer yourself that the same will be paid by Money order, if less than Rs.300. Over which you can send a DD. In all your correspondence, you mention the folio number. After getting their reply, send the share certificate, completed share transfer form and a DD or MO for the stamp duty. Their reply will confirm their correct address to which you have to forward the documents.Preserve a xerox copy of the share cerificates and completed transfer deed. Maintain a record for sending them and to receive it back.
After getting them transferred, open a joint demat account with your wife's name as first name and your self as second name. if you inform you desire to demat it, they will retain the certificates and give a single letter for the certificates detained. That will be sufficient to have the dematng. Your DP will help you.
Each process willtake 2 to 4 weeks .

I own physical share certificates of few companies brought many years back. I do not hold a demat a/c. Can I transfer these shares to my wife\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\`s demat account directly? Or will I have to open a demat account and convert my shares from physical to demat form and then transfer?
