The global financial crisis is acting as a double-edged sword, as far as the pharma-outsourcing to India is concerned. While international drug-makers turn to India for cheaper resources for manufacturing and research, Indian companies have their work cut out for them, in terms of expanding capacities to grab these opportunities. Funds for clinical research and development are still harder to come by, as drug discovery is fraught with risks and failures. S there is a fear that the outsourcing wave may bypass India, for countries like Singapore and China.

The global financial crisis is proving to be a growth pill of sorts for the Indian pharma outsourcing sector. Companies like Merck of the US and Pfizer have already announced increased outsourcing of manufacturing and research and development activities to cut costs. After all, wages in India work out to around a fifth of wages in the west and there is no scarcity of patients for clinical trials.

With due regards to the plight of the farmers, the government should not decide the prices of the farm produce and it should be left to the demand and supply of each commodity. The quantum of production by any industry depends upon the consumption pattern and profit potential. How can we expect the sugar industry to pump in more and more capital into expansion plans, if the profit margins are not merely reducing but leading to recurrent losses. Our country is unable to process food items out of the agriculture and hoticulture commodities for the domestic/export markets sufficiently, resulting in major damages due to inadequate/improper storage facilities and lack of processing facilities. If additional processing facilities by the corporates are to be encouraged, every pricing control on farm produce and the sale of end products should be removed. The present policy is not at all in the interest of the farmers. We are subsidising the upper and middle classes by imposing price controls on the end products, on the pretext of helping the poor at the cost of the poor farmers and the industry.
If the sugar industry in UP has to may more as per the SAP, as compared to the prices paid to the farmers for sugarcane in other states, it is economically unviable. It is quite but natural that existing crushing facilities of the UP sugar mills shall not be fully utilised, so as to keep an check on the mounting losses. It may also impact the employment potential of the sugar mills. Does this scenario goes in favour the the farmers? Or, will the state government revenues will not be impacted adversely, if the quantum of crushing of sugarcane is reduced?
If we really intend to help the poor farmers of UP, let us encourage the sugar industry to have the optimum use of its existing crushing facilities and increase the same to a higher level, with any eye on the international demand of sugar/ethanol. The price controls on commodities and the end products are responsible for the poor plight of the farmers and inadequate food processing units. Should we continue to waste the farm produce due to our inability to process the same for long-term storage for domestic consumption and to earn foreign exchange on exports? Are we really pro-farmers by implementing the state-controls rather than following the economy of demand and supply? Or, is it to preserve our vote banks, by pretending that we are pro-farmers, although those poor people are not able to get even their labour costs even after independence? ...

No change in sugar prices in next 6-8 months: Bajaj Hind

Ravindra Singh representative of sugarcane growers say\\\\\\\\`s that what Mr.Kushagra Bajaj or ISMA is saying is not absolutely correct ,cost of sugarcane has nothing to do with prices of final product(sugar)like other agricultural commodity such as paddy, wheat etc.Even if costing is done on the basis of prices earned by the sugar mills from sale of sugar and its bye products now prevailing, sugar factories will be still in profit of at least Rs 2.5 per kg.considering the total scenario, SAP of Rs 140/ would be largely beneficial for the sugar mills .Probably sugar mills are opposing this price with a view to succeed in pending disputes for 2006-07,& 2007-08 as they apprehend that if sugar mills started paying the SAP@ Rs 140/ the the SAP of previous will be automatically confirmed and then they will be required to pay the balance of SAP . Considering from another angle also the SAP is genuine and justified, as their is inflation of 12 % in one year in market prices or MSP of other alternative agricultural commodities, where as during the last two season\\\\\\\\`s sugarcane prices remains the same ,though there was increase in input costs . Non payment of remunerative prices to farmers have resulted in to 25% less production of sugarcane in Uttar Pradesh over previous year\\\\\\\\`s.Sugar mills may have suffered some loss in previous year but that was due to steep fall in sugar prices and for this farmer\\\\\\\\`s can not be denied remunerative sugarcane prices,as the sugar price depends on demand and supply in domestic and international market. the cane grower\\\\\\\\`s are supplying the sugarcane as per demand of sugar mills as directed by the cane commissioner or government. In the U.P.during last 5 years production of sugar has been increased, factories have increased their crushing capacity, not only this about 25 new sugar mills have been established and non of the Pvt Sugar mill has been wound up during this period, where as contrary to this number of cane farmer\\\\\\\\`s have threaten to suicide, and are still fighting for their cane price arrears before district administration in various sugarcane regions.

World\\\\`s 2nd poorest customer service award has to be given to dishtv as the number 1 slot already alloted to whirlpool - and both deserve probably better than this.
I am having a dish tv connection and have shifted my residence - 10 days back and had started giving calls to dishtv a day before planned shift. Inspite of repeated calls - may be more 10 calls - and stern warnings to the executives about the delay, not even a single soul visited my house. Every time I have to hold for atleast 5 minutes before the tape-recorded human voice comes and take the details to provide zero service.
Absolute poor service - I am referring this complaint to consumer forum and from there to consumer court - if I don\\\\`t\\\\` get any response within 18 hours from this mail.
I am planning to issue notice to dishtv bosses, even abroad - and see how I can escalate this issue.
May even consider posting on media site and blogs.
Thanks for poorest services

The global economic slowdown has derailed demand for commercial properties. This implies that private equity funds are now reluctant to fund commercial projects, and they prefer to put in their investments in affordable housing projects and construction companies.

Is Over Expansion of Credit and Excessive Speculation not the root cause of present Economic Crisis ?
A person should try and live within the available means and not the expected means. When we want to overstretch, we use the word growth, progressetc, which sound very lucid, but are the same that take you into grat trouble, unless U are lucky enough.
Secondly, over speculation is the reason. When a person wants to become rich quickly, he is tempted to gamble, and the case of governments can be no exception as we have seen in India, where stock trading was made akin to casinos. The government and the regulators slept and the common man suffered.
Due to paucity of time, I am unable to elaborate. Looking forward to your valuable comments and opinions

Just goes on to show how one idiotic minister can hurt the country so badly. Once again underlines the fact that how much capability to damage is vested in the hands of one individual. It is time we put some stringent checks and balances in place.
Let us see what happens when the PIL on the matter is heard....
