In some other time horizon I would have disagreed with you. But knowing that election are due in March 09 and the possibility of a hung parliament, I gulp my words. But frankly I feel that Nifty will not go down to the level of 1600, as India`s GDP will be still at 6 in worst scenario. The fact that RBI is not aggressive in cutting down the interest rates, shows that the possibility of GDP at 7.5 exists. So Nifty at 2200 should be the final point at which one can think of selling his spare flat and buying frontliners and some good midcaps.

The finance Ministry also wants Oil marketing companies to make money to reduce budget deficit, So fuel prices may not be cut on rational basis. They may be cut marginally in view of election during which time RBI will reign supreme. ...

Gentlemen, index already broke 8000 level several times and the next level to see is 2003 levels, which is Sensex 5000 and Nifty 1600. World is in a declared recession, so no need to jump to buy anything time, wait for your price. I suggest 40 Rs. for RPL or it can fall below. On the issue price of stock, take the example of Sobha Developers, issue price is Rs.600 and today I saw the oversold stock falling in to 85 levels, so no need to be so optimistic about RPL issue price, there are major players in the stock to buy at lower levels. It is free fall today and there is no any kind of supports. Even I doubt Rs.31 in RPL if Index falls to 5000 and 1600, but somewhere around 40 its is a good buy for long term.

In the present scenario, Index may break down to 2003 levels, Asia, US Europe are all declared recession. Nothing is going to happen in movements for atleast one year or 18 months times, U.S. the world treasury is in a very bad shape, and there is no miracle to happen there. For liquidity reason Chevron`s may exit from RPL. RPL can fall to Rs.40 or 41 in the near term. I would suggest wait for until early January 2009, that one can buy all stocks at throw away price and accummulate with a long term vision as India is on the path of development. =Avro Chan=...

The issue price of a stock is the strongest support level. If it has breached this level - that too after 3 years - there is something wrong fundamentally, besides market conditions.
Wait out - You may get the opportunity to pick this one around the 40s

The economy is in serious recession and will contract at a faster pace in the fourth quarter.

I am much more concerned that we may have a long period of stock market lethargy...until there`s some visibility as to how deep the recession is and how we get out of it

Market pros have been searching for a bottom ever since the implosion of Bear Stearns last February. As recently as last Thursday, a sharp rally-when the Dow Jones Industrial fell below 8,000 and then rebounded violently-had some thinking the market had finally reached capitulation.

It`s very, very clear that short of breaking that bottom it`s going to be choppy and we are going to be testing and testing.

If you really are a true long-term investors who`s prepared to go in and not look for five years, most likely you`re going to do well buying top-quality stocks. Market leaders, clean, strong balance sheets, dividends, best of breed-these companies are going to do very well. In the short term, no. This is one where you`ve got to stick to your guns and not look.

That mindset is widespread, though some advisers are taking short-term positions in the market to capitalize on what they see as a quick bounce.

Just the fact that I think we`re probably a little oversold here we wouldn`t be surprised to see a bounce. But I think any bounce would be purely technical.

There`s no leadership out there in the market yet," he says. "Until we start to see the more economically sensitive stocks--financials and the retails and some consumer durables--really start to make some outperformance, we`re still trying to weather the storm..

I am still looking at RPL … if its gonna touch 60 levels .. I will start getting in!

Dear Friends,
Why one should buy RPL?

1. It has set up a greenfield petroleum refinery and polypropylene plant in a Special Economic Zone at Jamnagar in Gujarat. It is having annual crude processing capacity of 580,000 barrels per stream day (BPSD), RPL will be the sixth largest refinery in the world.
2. What is BPSD ? - The maximum number of barrels of input that a distillation facility can process within a 24-hour period when running at full capacity under optimal crude and product slate conditions with no allowance for downtime.
3. Now if RPL is able to get margin of 5$ per barrel, then RPL will get around 11 Crore (5$ * 5,80,000 Barrel) Profit per Day, which means that it will have profit of 4234 Crore. For equity of 450 Cr shares it will have EPS of 10 rs. Currently the price is quoted at 80 Rs. People are ready to buy stock worth 20 * PE of any potential company. Hence down the 1 year people will buy this stock even at 200 rs. So today the price is cheaper one. Buy it. Here we are only calculation 5$ of margin, while reliance petro can get around 10$ margin also. So the EPS will be around 10 – 20 Rs down the 1 year. Also note that in coming days they will increase their capacity from 5,80,000 barrel to 8,00,000 barrel. Now calculate the EPS and see the magic in coming days for this particular stock.
4. It has achieved 97% overall progress
5. While Global refining fundamentals continue to remain robust, RPL derives its competitive advantage from its large scale, higher complexity, capability to process a wide range of crude oils and flexibility to produce high quality transportation fuels catering to various international markets.
6. Capacity to refine low cost crude. What does it mean, low cost crude is available at cheaper rate as compared to high quality crude. In the world there are few refinery, which is having capacity to refine the low cost crude. So in this case RPL will refine any kind of crude whatsoever is available.
7. World`s Largest Grass Root Refinary.
8. The products from the Jamnagar complex are for foreign consumption. When complete, the facility will be able to refine 1.24m barrels of crude a day. Two-fifths of this gasoline will be sent 9,000 miles (15,000km) by sea to America.
9. The company`s ambitions in Jamnagar have helped India move from being a net importer to an exporter of refined petroleum products. "We want to make a statement that India can be an industrial giant. Jamnagar is a refinery for the world, based out of India," said Hital Meswani, executive director of Reliance Industries. "In the mid-90s when this project was conceived, no one believed it would work. We were told there was too much capacity, returns were not great and every management consultant we hired told us don`t bother."
10. Second was that no new capacity was being built around the world. Environmental concerns and the rising costs of infrastructure projects discouraged the oil majors from putting up refineries in Europe and America. No new oil refinery has been built in the US since the 1980s as environmental legislation has tightened.

11. Currently the RPL share is being traded at a higher rate, because the expectation is high from RPL in coming years (not days). This is the stock of future but not today. It will give handsome return down the 2 years. Ambani is having good experience in managing the Petrochem company, the same experience will be utilized here in RPL and RPL will become gem for investor.

I too have 2000 qty at 85.
This is my view about RPL, lets have healthy discussion on RPL with its fundamentals.

Dear Friends
RPL will definitely break its low and go down to nearly Rs.45 within medium term. The best examples are JP Asso,DLF,Unitec, etc.
Reason is simple and somany wont accept. Chevron is going to sell RPL all its stake which is old news although. Basing on this bad news so many big wigs had gone short in RPL and they will cover it definetly below 65.Moreover according to experts world is in recession and it may long for more than 6 - 12 months in US and Europe. The impact of this will continue on countries like india will last for more than one year. so for small investors like me it is better to sit aside and buy rpl at around 50 and hold for long term. Then u will get good returns. If you try to trade u will definitely loose money.

bye best of luck

Dear Be and Make - Can you please tell me what is the bottom for RPL? I wish to sell my holding of 1000 RPL and then buy RPL again because am confident that RPL will emerge back after a year once the dust settles. Just keen if i could make a few hundreds and make some liquidity for a living. You are indeed the best and i respect your too good analysis.
