ACC has resistance at Rs 800-850: Guppy

Daryl Guppy, Founder and Director of Guppytraders.com is of the view that ACC has resistance at Rs 800-850.
“ACC is interesting in the sense that technically it is developing a trend break up. We can see an upward sloping triangle pattern has developed, the upper edge of that triangle is at Rs 650, and the lower edge of the trendline is currently around Rs 580 levels. We had a rebounce in August and earlier in September. So this is generally a bullish pattern however, a bullish breakout on this level will run into resistance around Rs 800-850 levels.”

Investment in blue chip companies is recommended only for long term. Short term volatility may keep taking its toll across the board. Once the situation improves, one can certainly hope for decent return on money invested. Cos with consistent track of high percentage of dividend can be selected without an iota of doubt on future growth prospects. Thanks....

Dear RT
I am confident ACC and the whole cement sector will perform exceedintly well after we come out of the present volatile jitters in stock market. Singing with the crowd is normal, notwithstanding, I hope nothing extraordinary is required see the Indian and global economic revival back on track. Time is the question.
Regards & good day.

Dear TC,
10-12 years is too long a time... I do not have the vision for that.. After 2-3 years, i think there will be a boom again.. If there is a major war that India fights, I can't see what effect it will have on this sector - could even lead to a big boom.. If there is social and political revolution that drives us away from capialism, even though the sector does very well, the stocks may not...
regards

Dear RT
Well then, can we expect something better after 2 years ? or will the situation continue to remain grim for a sustained period say 10-12 years ?

Dear TC,
I see not much hope for the cement sector as a whole for quite some time - at least 2 years. A lot of new capacities going to hit the market, real estate will continue to remain in a bad state, and infrastructure spending likely to be subdued as well... So if i were looking for long term investment, i would just sell all cement i have in the current rally, and after a correction switch to some other sector --- pharma, biotech for defensive play, and equipment manufacturers for power plants for an aggressive play (EMCO, IndoTech, KEC International, Easun.... all available very cheap now.. as FIIs had significant holdings).
regards
