The time factor I cannot say. If the market continues to show bearish trend, it may be within a few weeks only....

Hi vkk43, RPL is moving within limits, not to much move upward as seen earlier. I also feel that RPL will achieve the target as suggested by you, But it has to see how much it will take time?

Dear KI - More than this “15 year low Refining margins” is the utmost `fear factor` for the RPL along with your two reasons.

dear chief - You are not accepting facts, RIL officials told that chevron is offloading its stake:
Thursday, October 23, 2008
Chevron to offload stake in RPL: Sources
Chevron is set to offload its 5 per cent stake in RPL to RIL, after marketing talks between the US oil company and RIL failed, sources told NDTV.
It is learnt that the stake sale would happen at RPL’s IPO price of Rs 60 a share.
Also, deepening the RIL-Chevron divide was the issue over RIL using Shell’s technology and RIL’s sale of RPL stake in 2007, sources said.
---
Then it is very bad news for the Reliance, it has to look into the new marketing areas, which will further affect the margins.

Dear manju - please go through my blog and select the RPL label there you can get all the news about the RPL.
Regarding 2-3% margin - That’s the real worrying factor for every analyst. Now, we have to observe how long this lower margin persists. If they sustains in this range then refinery stocks should bite the dust.
With thanks

Dear Be and make
Can you please explain us what will be the case of the RPL plant if they start production in next April 2009(if they start). The refineries inside RPL plant will effect?.
To make my question clean:: The petroleum refinery and polypropylene plant will effect the production .. Do they have enough demand?!!
Is this can happen’? :: If they start running the petroleum refinery they will run the by product of polypropylene plant as it is only by-product of refinery. Shut the other RIL refinery as per the demand.
I think in that case they must merge other wise RIL will not accept this
What will be RPL share cost on 2-3% margin ?
Thanks

Comissioning will take place!!Chevron should not sell stake holding,as they are doing well and are not FII`s in need for cash!!They are long term investors!!

dear Dear mars – Yes, RPL is one of the highly efficient refinery but the problem is not how efficient is it is the problem is that we are going to have very very low refining margins. Last sep they are around 5-7% whereas RIL maintained somewhat better number due to inventory gains. But, in oct they globally they are at 2-3% then what will be the RILs numbers? There is huge demand destruction to the crude which is very bad news for the refineries.
Not only to the refineries, petchem wing also the suffering thing for RIL due to that it already accepted the VRS scheme of 500 employees and it shut the 5 plants out of 7.
So, we are going to see much bad news in these counters
Happy investing

dear chief - All the governments around the world are coming with the "rescue plans" which can only give relief from bailouts. They are not poised to boost the growth they are meant to give some relief ONLY.
