Canara Bank has informed BSE that in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (a) of sub-section (3) of section 9 of the Banking Companies (Acquisition and Transfer of Undertakings) Act, 1970, read with sub-clause (1) of clause 3, clause 5, clause 6, clause 7 and sub-clause (1) of clause 8 of the Nationalised Banks (Management and Miscellaneous Provisions) Scheme, 1970, the Central Government after consultation with the Reserve Bank of India, has appointed Shri. A C Mahajan, CMD, Allahabad Bank as CMD of Canara Bank from his taking charge of the post on or after July 01, 2008 and till July 31, 2010 i.e. the date of his attaining the age of superannuation or until further orders, whichever is earlier, Vide notification dated June 25, 2008. He has taken charge as Chairman & Managing Director of the Bank w.e.f. July 01, 2008.
