Dear Punarora,
It`s not only you, but many of us got stuck in GMDC. I am holding @ Rs.440. But I have invested in 10 companies.
But don`t sell in panic, as GMDC is a good comapny. It has the potential to grow & they have set good goals to become Rs.10,000 cr company in few years. Apart from this, they have a divrsified portfolio. Even in such conditions they have confirmed bonus at last, which shows their projections.
Their contribution of 30% to Guj Govt, is a temporary set back & hope this would not continue.
We need to be more confident in this kind of market condtions.
Let us hope for the best.

yes i have received dividend ... what do you all think is the future of his company... i have invested about 25 lacs in this company and now it`s down by 85% since then... all my income and savings are gone with this company share [rice falling by 85%
please advice.

Book Closure for Div was on 11 Sept 08 . Only for bonus RD is on 17th Oct 08. GMDC is a good Buy at this price cum Bonus. 74 % holding with Govt of Guj and floating stock is distributed. Super Profits from Coal/Lignite mining as well as Power gen.

Hi Puna,
I am very sad to see that your investment is having no value. I am also wondering that if u had 25 Lakhs Rs., why didn`t u invest it wisely. Instead of investing this much big amount in a single company, you should have consulted someone and invested in 6-8 or 8-10 different companies.
Anyway, now nothing can be done. All I can say that is a good company (despite of news about donating 30%) and recession is spreading everywhere in the world (like it hppnd in 2001-2004).
I would advise you to wait for around 2 years and whn the global economy will start moving up, this stock (or any other stock) will surely go up. Just don`t be upset and don`t sell stock in this much great loss.
Guj Min is already touching 100 so we may see downside till 70 or may be 50 Rs. If u invest v little amount on that range, you may be able to average your price upto great level. However, investing more is not advisable at this time but u can take little risk.
Also, if u have capabilities to invest more, then wait for some time and once the market is somewhat steady (even if not going north), you can select 1-2 good stocks and invest more.
Moreover, Sensex is likely to go below 10k.

in this time of global financial crises....our own GMDC is doing charitable work....why because the govt no other means to earn livey hood.....is now depending on psu listed companies to pay for govt spending on election... why is guj govt doing with the revenues of tax and other revenues it gets from indirect taxes...... am sure somebody will file RTI........

record date means till that date if in your demat account shares are lying then u are eligible for bonus for GMDC record date is 17th october so if u buy on or before 15th october u will receve bonus because 15th payout is on 17th october.As u told u r new to the market then understand the t+2 rolling system.

when I read messages on GMDC I get surprised. No body talks about unjustified decision of Gujarat Govt. to contribute 30% of PBT by GMDC. Everybody is taking care only of dividend or bonus. I understand that indian shareholders are not aware of their rights....

Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd (GMDC) has informed BSE that the shareholders in the adjourned Annual General Meeting held on September 24, 2008 have approved issuance of Bonus shares in the ratio of 1:1 and authorized the Board of Directors to fix a record date to decide the entitlement of Bonus. Accordingly, the Board has decided October 17, 2008, as the record date for the purpose of deciding entitlement of shareholders for Bonus.

There should not be any hype about the bonus. If you have 10 stocks at 100 Rs. and after bonus if it becomes 20 Stocks but the price is now 50 Rs. so it is same thing..

Yes yu will have 40 shares total in your account after Sept 17 record date but the price will become roughly half this usually depends from company to company
