This may have had as much to do with the vegetarian Prime Minister’s spartan taste as Obama’s own tryst with daal-roti when he was in college (his room-mate Vinai Thumullapally was among the invitees), although it was First Lady Michelle Obama who finalized it. Indeed, as predicted, some of the vegetarian fare, including the herbs, came from the First Lady’s White House vegetable garden. Indian touches included tomato chutney, green curry prawns, and coconut aged basmati. Hacks with a vivid imagination – and a hungry stomach – snarkily translated Red Lentil Soup into rajma, Chickpeas and Okra into cholay-bhindi, and cashew brittle into chikki.

There was a surprise in the person of A R Rahman (although this paper had predicted this) to give a ``jai ho`` to US-India ties; more than a one third of the 320 guests were Indians or Indian-Americans; and then, there were the settings (an exotic and tastefully plush shamiana with many Indian motifs) and the menu, which wasn’t exactly daal-chawal, but certainly had Indian elements to it.

There were plenty of `desi` touches to the Obamas’ glittering state banquet for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his wife Gursharan PM Manmohan Singh with US President Obama at the White House.
Kaur from the time the US President toasted them before a 320-strong power elite with ``Aap ka swagat hain`` (we welcome you). Heck, someone joked, at this rate he might be addressing our Parliament in Hindi when he visits in 2010.

Thanks a lot for the compliments TC. Appreciate it.

I wish your wish become true more then my hypothesis proven right or wrong. Sir we are traders and we have no loyalty for markets and its directions, we jump on the back of bulls and bear as per our convenience but irony is few like me still catch it wrong and make losses LOL

Dear Dipak
I think it would be FOOLISH to say the rally ends here, as long as people believe this then rally will not end.
Its in a range now 4500-5200, so we are testing the upper band. We held on to the lower band of 4500 and now test of upper band.

RS, Absolutely correct. You were perfectly bang dot on. There was just a minor typo of 100 in place of 10. Thanks.

VSF: Fluctuating Fortunes
Historically, the prices of substitute fibers had often had an impact on the demand for VSF. The demand for VSF was at its peak in the 1960s, when it commanded a market share of 20% in the global fiber market. Over the years, this had declined gradually. Over the decades, the production cost of VSF had risen steadily, owing to soaring raw material (especially wood pulp) costs and the highly power intensive nature of the production process. In the 1990s, the low price of cotton and falling polyester prices made VSF the costliest fiber, causing a decline in its market share. In the 1990s, VSF`s global market share had shrunk to 4%

Russian rouble outperformed its fair convertibility range against Nikkei by 30% on multiple number of occasions in the last 3 years. With Japan economy on the threshold of recovery, Nikkei will outperform rouble by atleast 31% of highest peak attained by fair conversion value index during the next six months or so to maintain equilibrium in cross-continental growth-parity.

At times, I feel perplexed how can a person have a bitter tongue and a 360 degrees sweet heart together ?
Cos` God has made nobody a perfect soul, probably. Like I too possess an undisclosed bad habit and can not claim I always speak everything in full open circle, if not a lie.

Dear MK1000
People are paying three times the book value very comfortably and ignoring emerging national brand at almost half the book value just for the sake of a single quarter anomaly. Turnaround is not the concept that happens rarely only.

It is WRONG to write `an union`. It is `a union`. Just being part of vowel`s set {a e i o u} is not adequate, the following word should also SOUND like starting with vowels. Union, one, unique etc always carry `a` preceding them, eventhough they visibly appear to start with a vowel. Thanks.

Dear nadhi
Heart needs to be bigger than mind & a writer can not change the world order. :)

It would be impossible to list all the ways in which life can be unpredictable, being that its unpredictability starts from the moment we draw our first breath until the second we gasp for our last. Ben Franklin`s quote `but in the world nothing can be said to be certain except death and taxes` holds as true today as the day he was quoted. Life turns on a dime and can change at the drop of a hat.
As scary as that sounds, the unpredictably of life is what makes life itself worth living. If you knew every move life was going to make in advance, what would be the point in staying in the game?
The unpredictability of life brings much pain but it also carries with it great joy. If taken out of life`s equation, both will perish. Life`s inconsistency provokes the will to try and it prods encouragement to try even harder. Without its fickleness, there would be no need for our attempts and with no need for our attempts; it would make sense there would be no need for us. If everything were inevitable, what would be the point of our existence?
Life`s unpredictability is its source of hope. It brings with it things to look forward to and causes the dread of facing them and it always interferes with both. What seems like the worst thing that could ever happen, sometimes turns out to be the best and what seems like the best thing that could ever happen, sometimes turns out to be the worst. One of the greatest gifts God gave of us was, not knowing for sure.
With out uncertainty, we would never experience the feeling of optimism amid gloom and doom (a saving grace to many). We would not take unnecessary risks and we certainly wouldn`t take any chances because without life`s unpredictably, there are no risks or chances to be had. If everyone knew the outcome of every event, there would be no Super Bowl, no World Series and no Olympics. The unknown sparks a human being`s drive; if it came to the point where we all knew everything, we can just pull over because there`s no point in continuing with our journey, the ride is officially over.
