Swamy,
In the long term, what differenciates good companies from great ones is how many patents they hold and what intellectual property they possess. R&D may be sapping profits now but if they are on right path then these expenses will create basis of a very profitable future.
Many Indian companies do not spend such amount of money. But then you get in business like Ranbaxy -duplicates of good products in generic product market, after patents have expired.
If Biocon can manage to make reasonable profits and still sustain their R&D, then long term investors will benefit.

It is futile to expect US to back down on the farm subsidy issue. These are highly political issues where no govt can afford to see others point of view. Both countries are going through political and economic upheavals. Most likely that US will strike bi-lateral deals with smaller developing countries and maintain its course. India also should look at similar path to maintain its struggle of improving standards of living for its poor farmers. At the cost of being branded as a deal breaker, India should remain clear on who needs support. Clearly its the Indian poor farmers who need asistance here not the rich farmers in US or EU....

Biocon may not give high returns in near term. The company has been struggling with new products. Profitability (RONW) is high PE ratio is also below industry average.
This is a high risk business. With so much reliance on R&D, you need more margins. There is too much relaince on new / recently introduced products. If some products go wrong, there will be no backup. In pharmaceuticals, there can be serious costs related to product recall / legal claims.
In spite of this, the company is worth holding onto. Just do not expect too much too soon. I am not able to understand the reasoning behind 1:1 bonus. May be this is a tool to placate investors. It is a 5 RS share, why not just make in a 10Rs share.

This could be good for the share holders of Cummins. Profits are generally higher in after sales activity than sales of original equipment.
What would be the share ratio?? Is this a way to increase % holding of the promoter group? Cummins USA holds 100% of the two businesses being merged in Cummins.
Will this help them delist the shares?

Why give credit to Congress when Modi should be held responsible for this.
When you do some bad thing, it comes back. Why say that Manmohan failed when blasts occur in Ahmedabad now. Many bloggers were singing praises for Modi after the Gujarat riots where much more violence was directed towards minority.
By no means such acts of terrorism can be condoned, and the persons responsible should be found and punished. I would just like to add Modi's name to the list.
