Here in India bank strikes are over. Let us have look for what happens in big banks in the west. A view of IMF chief is given in Bus.Std. Here it is for the information of employees and public.:

'Large US banks may fail amid recession'

“The worst is yet to come in the US,” says IMF's former chief economist. The US housing slump has triggered more than $500 billion of credit market losses for banks globally.

Credit market turmoil has driven the US into a recession and may topple some of the nation’s biggest banks, said Kenneth Rogoff, former chief economist at the International Monetary Fund.

“The worst is yet to come in the US,” Rogoff said in an interview in Singapore today. “The financial sector needs to shrink; I don't think simply having a couple of medium-sized banks and a couple of small banks going under is going to do the job.”

The worst is yet to come is the caution as the world banking industry is interdependent.Once the inflation and recession steps in all banks are sailing in the same boat,to give concern for the Govt. and Public alike

The entire market is at cross roads. For two or three days we have to be on side lines. The advisors are not parting their funds. So observe their advices carefully and how far it holds good. Catious trading is required after the two days strike is over. I feel patience will save your money on hand. You may lose a chance to get a profit. But you are sure that you have not a rupee under uncertain market conditions. The choice is yours for trading.

Yes Krishnamoorthy, Those who are sitting with profit of 15-20% they should book 50% book profit and they can re-renter at the time of RBI credit policy. Just before RBI credit policies banks are highly volatile that time they can enter again at lower levels....

To muhut

My point is to those who see a price with 15% growth in their purchases made a month ago, in CBI shares, to sell 50% of their holding to book the profit and thereby reduce the cost of their balance shares held.
Personally, I got allotment at the IPO. When the shares were giving me a price of 129 , I sold all of them by chance. I reentered later below the issue price.
Whenever, I buy shares,I fix a target price to sell 25 to 50 percent of the shares bought to reduce the cost of the balance. If the price moves up, the balance shares held will be benefited. If it goes down, the loss will be reduced. This is my line of stand and action.

Krishanmoorthy, last 2 qtrs numbers were bad because of lots of ajdustment done based on new accounting practices introduced for banking sectors. It get relief from adjustment after couple of qtrs. I would not advice people to exit central bank at this level where is it trading 0.4-0.5 times of Book values. Ideally psu banks trade at 1.5-2 times of book value. So it has room to go up. HA Daruwala turned this bank from loss to profit in last 3yrs. Banks bottom lime has been growing with 35-40% yoy.

The share has posted the Q! results and there is more room for improvement in the next quarters. Q1 is not so good.
Those how bought the shares a month ago at Rs.54-55 rupees, can sell half of their holdings at 15% to20% profit and re-enter when the rate come down.
Just a point of viw for your decision.

After results i gone through HA Daruwala\\`s interview for last qtr and this qtr. Results were down because of some adjsutment. Last qtr Central bank has done full adjustment as per some financial standard without that central bank could post profit of 300crore profit. This qtr they adjusted MTM 179crore. Adding these amounts Central bank profit is not bad. Central bank is taking full adjustment later it will be resulted in sudden jump of central bank. HA daruwala says that they don\\`t need to adjust anything in Septemper which boost the profit of central bank to 250crore in q2.
Vijaya bank posted loss adjusting where other banks linke UCO Bank, Dena Bank, Union Bank did partial adjsutment. So they have to do all ajustment at some time.
Were u able to look at GMR Ferro. I started picking up That stock from 32 level. Now it is uppercircuit daily. Buying volumes increased in many fold after q1 results.
