there are many many company promoters doing this prectice of pledging shares to hide their intentions of actually sell their holding in the company..........

investers only came to know about it when the lenders sell these shares in open market .......

it`s like a indirect way to sell promoters shares without informing the investers/regulaters......

i suppose as the sentiments has gone down.......we will see a sell off in every company where the promoters has pledged shares .....
