Dear vkk – The fall in RPL is only because of the satyam’s fraud. No single fundamental change was happened in RPL or refineries sector. Of course some FIIs now look in to the India to review their investments because this Satyams issue.

Dear rms – Thanks for your good words. I request the boarders to come with bullish or bearish views with some “valid reasons”. Don’t come post simply it will go up or go down or some sunkar recommending buying.
Even though if you not interested in any one of the boarders views, then come with some valid views or go as per your discretion, Instead of that some sunkars repeatedly threatening and using some abusive language.
By posting such nasty messages the whole spirit in this mmb will spoil.
Yes, regarding the RPL it has its own day but it has to come. Whether it may come in three months or one year or two year! Wait for the things to re-establish till that be cautious don’t make any big decisions based on the ‘production announcements’.

dear be and make
we are with you , everybody has a right to express their views and individuals can take their own decisions, with due diligence. its wrong by fellow boarders to attack you personally for your bearish views (which are correct) . the data you have presented to support your call is true and the first quarter results of ril will bring rpl down, thanks for warning small time simple investors like me to not fall in this trap and loose money. although in a years time frame rpl will be a outperformer

Dear vkk – Yes it does matter. After posting any bearish messages in this counter some boarders attacking personally, they are spoiling the spirit of the mmb, yes for sure I am bearish for short term what’s wrong in it? I gave so many reasons and report why it is going to show the weakness.
At least these boarders will not have their own ideas they are just posting some X’s views like some X gave a buy call.
These are the nasty boarders they doesn’t digest any bearish call on this counter. That tells the fact that how nasty they are.
I am bearish for short term they are bullish for short term time will prove whether RPL will move towards the 70+ level or 140+ level in upcoming months!

Dear sunny – Thanks for your posting. The RPL fall is only because of the Satyam issue. No fundamental issue dragged the RPL yesterday hence we cant go for party right now. RPL is just fallen due to the poor sentiment in the market.
But how can we judge that the stock will do better and its out look for short term is very promising? I think it is the very immediate question comes in to every investor of RPL!
In my view, those stocks fallen due to this panic and were having huge growth prospectus for short term will bounce in the same passion. If RPL is having such enticing out look for short term then it too bounces in the same passion as it fell yesterday.
In my view (as I am bearish for short term) RPL will not outperform the bourses in the next (bear market) rally. Means RPL will be in tight range instead of breaching the previous rallies highs.

Thanks for writing in.

Unless all the "bad news" really has been priced into the stock market, one of two outcomes is likely: either the economy is going to rebound sooner rather than later or the stock market is whistling past the graveyard.

In other words, something`s gotta give. :-)

Forget about these nasty boarders, ignorance is the best policy. The recipe for perpetual ignorance is a very simple and effective one: be satisfied with your opinions and content with your knowledge.

We are here to make money and help each other in doing the same. I am not at all emotional about these things. Giving nasty comments to each other can be an Orkut thing and not MMB. I know you would agree to me :-)

Sunny!

Dear rajat – Thanks for your supporting words. Till now, my calls on RPL (either they were bullish or bearish) were absolutely worked for me. I am bearish in this counter for short term only and my bearish views are meant for the traders.
This week too my nifty targets achieved (of course due to panic it reached) but I am with limited profits due using the “short strangle” instead of the Nifty future.
From last twenty eight weeks, my calls on nifty going with more than 85% success rate.

Dear amrakunj – There is a connection between satyam and ivrcl ?
Don’t frustrate by seeing that comment, the big connection between these two was from the Big fund houses those heavily leveraged in satyam are too heavily leveraged in IVRCL. Now, I think why IVRCL has fallen madly!
Due to redemption pressure on that particular fund, Fmanagers tries to reduce their exposure in equities and tends towards more cash, which leads to de-leverage from the top holdings like IVRCL by those funds which had huge exposure in satyam.
I read that report in some where yesterday!
Please correct if am wrong

Dear bysani – Yes time will verdict the fact. The valuation is a ‘path function’ not a ‘point function’ means after reaching certain point it never ends it goes on goes on, it bases on some parameters as the parameters goes changing the path too changes.
At this point of time (for ST) the stock is capped at 98/- on the upside on valuation terms. (Remember the call is meant of ST not for ‘LT’)

Hi Be and Make, Thanks for giving information about RPL.What are your views about market trend on tomorrow?...

In reply to:

"UNDERPERFORM" rating to RPL target is 59/- says Merrill Lynch

Posted by : Be and Make

RPL:
In December merill lynch came with a report on RPL stating it will be a “Underperformer” even it was trading around 73/-.
“Merrill Lynch retains ‘UNDERPERFORM’ rating on Reliance Petroleum (RPL). It has steeply cut Singapore complex refining margins forecast for FY10-FY11E.” RPL’s target price has also been cut by 58% to Rs 59 per share.

RIL:
In the same month it downgraded the price target for RIL by 15% but retained the ‘buy’ rating on RIL targeting the 1555/-
“Merill Lynch has cut its price objective on Reliance Industries (RIL) by 15% from Rs 1,825 to Rs 1,555 based on sum of the parts valuation.”
The cut is relatively modest assuming a weaker rupee, it adds. RIL’s presence in E&P and petrochemicals also helped dilute impact of refining margin cut on RIL.
---
I already gave a report of deustche bank with the same view. In the upcoming weeks/months so many such reports likely to come.

With thanks

Hi Be & Make,

Before anyone had the chance to soak in the early-year rally, a slew of big companies have come along with earnings warnings to temper the enthusiasm. The day was bad for DOW, S&P & NASDAQ.

The warnings-from giants Alcoa, Intel and Time Warner-were a big factor in the selloff in stocks on Wednesday. Now, It`s going to be ugly & get ready for the horror show :-) We`re certainly not through the thick of it...I think you`re going to see a horrible earnings season.

Analysts expect consumer-sensitive areas such as retail and parts of technology to be among the hardest hit as rising unemployment squelches consumer spending and hurts revenue and earnings. Even President-Elect Obama`s plan for a massive stimulus package isn`t expected to have much impact until later this year.

Let me mention some of the updates from Reuters:
Here`s a snapshot of the warnings so far:

1) Media conglomerate Time Warner (NYSE:TWX - News) said Wednesday it expects to record a charge of about $25 billion in goodwill writedowns, leading to a loss in the fourth quarter.

2) Microchip maker Intel (NasdaqGS:INTC - News) said its fourth-quarter revenue was likely worse than expected due to weaker global demand for personal computers. The company said its quarterly revenue was likely about $8.2 billion, down 23 percent from a year earlier.

3) Aluminum giant and Dow component Alcoa (NYSE:AA - News) said it would slash more than 15,000 jobs, halve capital spending and sell four businesses as it reduces aluminum production in the face of the global economic downturn. The company said it imposed a global salary and hiring freeze as it seeks to cope with what Chief Executive Officer Klaus Kleinfeld called "extraordinary times."

Disclosure:

1) I am holding my NASDAQ shorts.
2) I am holding US real estate shorts.

Regards
Sunny!

Dear sunny – Thanks for posting a nice article. Yes, some of the big analysts feels that some slow down is sure.
Here the question is whether the bad news is priced in or not! If it is priced in then some consolidation will happen in jan 08.
Regarding the stocks you mentioned, I will not agree with your call on Infy. There are so many issues still unfold hence in my view better to avoid for time being. ICICI is some what better scrip when compared to infy. Of course I am not tracking both of them deeply hence, ignore my views. I am just talking broadly hence need not take a insight on my view.
Regarding the RPL / RIL: I absolutely agree with your views, but in this mmb some boarders like ‘sunkars’ personally attack you if you post any bearish view. Why he was frustrated that much I don’t know. Ok, forget about these nasty boarders time will prove who is right! No need to waste the time to write about that silly persons / foolish messages.
Please keep writing

Dear Guest,

Its very difficult for anybody to predict the bottom. Already lot of people is loosing money while trying for that. Rather than predicting the bottom I believe in follow the trend policy. The trend is negative right now.

RPL is a good organization. It will make the history. The stock will go places in future…. blah blah blah… I say “Yes” to everything.

But, is the right time to buy the stock? The answer is "NO". The reason being the negative trend. Also, the global pressure in Oil refinery sector.

I see 55 to 60 Rs level as a good price to enter this script.

Please do thorough analysis & monitor the markets carefully before putting your money in.

Yes, I can give few trading calls on NIFTY,DOW, NASDAQ, Oil & Gold etc on time to time. I am not buying any stock right now. There are better trading opportunities available in commodities. For now, please follow the trend.

Regards,
Sunny!

Well , the fraud play made by the Satyam is going to effect all the good stocks too including RPL that doesn,t mean that the Begger Makkers views are absolutly correct.
