Dear Investors,
MTNL/BSNL or any other telecom company has a great future in India. Think about following points carefully:
1) Did you ever think, how telecom sector performed in developed countries in 1970-1980. Let me share with you that the price for some of the stocks like AT&T, British Telecom etc never seen in the range they were during this time and these companies built a great wealth for investors. I see history repeating itself in India as well and biggest beneficiaries will be government owned telecom companies.
2) Did you even think, how communication is evolving in last 10 years in India? Just look at penetration pattern and exponential increase in mobile telephony, mobile business requirements, complex needs to be accessible 24/7 and so on...I see the biggest wave is yet to hit India where communication will be key driver to growth. Goverment of India is realizing this quite fast and direction towards 3G technology is a big leap towards meeting future complex needs.
3) Did you ever think, you spent a day without using your any of following: mobile, telephone, computer, internet, Video Conference etc. I am sure, you will take some time to find the day like this and its not your situation, its case with almost everybody, be from small village, town, or big cities. If this is the kind of dependency we have now, imagine how growth can shape companies like MTNL/BSNL or Airtel/Vodafone etc.
4) Did you ever think, why many companies are trying to consolidate in this sector? Think about MTN-Reliance, Vodafone-Bharti, Idea-*** etc. I see, they all are very visinary and trying to achieve economy of scale and size to address the next wave in India!
I advise all long term investors to have some allocation in this sector and my personal recommendation is MTNL and Airtel.

I have some at 138 level and my present average is 96. Averaged at 85 level when it was trading between 83 & 90. Now the 3G spectrum allocation news and value unlocking of reality in Mumbai & Delhi will boost the stock. Your 127 level can be achieved shortly. But being PSU we can't expect sudden fire works.
My view is stay invested.

You should have averaged it y/day when the stock was at around 100 levles. Even I read the land bank news in the morning itself, but just hesistated and missed a good chance. MTNL was not in my watch list and hence I needed some time to finalise and by that time the stock moved up. Dont expect a big rally here, but MTNL should move up slowly and setadily. I feel it is ideal to average it if you can pick it at 100 levels. Anyways, take your own decision. Also have a look at Apollo tyres. I feel it is in the verge of a good upsurge....
