Seeing Sensex figures dip below 9K is much too depressing for any investor, especially because this doesn`t seem to be a temporary blip in the radar. And it`s no help when there is a constant global media buzz about this being the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression eight decades ago. In short, it sounds like this is the worst time to be associating your money with the stock market. Or is it?
One basic rule for making money in the stock market is to buy low and sell high. No, we are not suggesting, you go on a shopping spree and pick up stocks randomly, but yes, this definitely means that with some discretion you can still ensure profitability from this market....

Gold has been one of the most sought after commodity across the globe since ages. And India is the largest importer and consumer of gold in the world. So it`s not surprising that we follow the prices and ups and downs of gold very closely. What makes gold so hot and attractive?
It is interesting to note that India`s gold consumption is between 700-800 tonnes a year, which is 25 per cent of world consumption. In the last 8 years it has wavered from $272 in 2000 to $833.20 in 2007 to a high of $904.80 in the beginning of 2008.
Today, gold is priced at $717.10 per ounce.
Gold is measured in troy ounces and the price of gold is stated in terms of the cost of one ounce. One ounce is equivalent to 31.1 grams In 1907, gold was priced at Rs 1.40 per 10 grams, whereas today it is at Rs 11,850 per 10 grams.
In October 2008, gold rose to an all-time high as rupee depreciating to lifetime low due to the crisis in the global financial markets.
In India, gold breached all previous records to hit the high of Rs 14,320 per 10 gm in October 2008.

Imagine the thrill when the stock you just invested in, zooms! What an easy way to make money! Are not good returns over a short period very tempting? Your next move: Identify other stocks that have this potential. From now on, all your energy will be directed towards making that quick buck.
You will find yourself taking tips from every trader, reading every available material on the subject, spending hours studying charts and sighing at every small fall in the indices. Yet, with all the time and energy spent on it, you may end up burning your fingers. Stock market investing, like every other thing in life, requires discipline. First, decide how much percentage of your overall savings you want to invest in stocks. Then, create a portfolio based on your risk appetite. Phase out your investments to reduce risk.
Once you invest your surplus in stocks, make a commitment to stay invested. The market is bound to gyrate and there is no use reacting to its every move.
Before you invest in a stock, you must do some groundwork. Research the company. Look at what business it is in, prospects, strengths and weaknesses and how it is placed vis-À-vis peers. Penny stocks may fetch you quick returns in a bull market, but when the going gets nasty, your investments can dwindle to zero just as quickly.
If you bought a stock because you believed in the company’s business, you may have greater confidence that it will rebound, once the markets do. That will also encourage you to stay invested for the long-term.
If you must log on to your trading terminal everyday and are tempted to make a quick buck, set apart a specific sum for a “trading” or “momentum” portfolio. By doing so, you can make sure that you don’t gamble too much of your savings on wild impulses or “tips” from friends, that are bound to sway your day to day stock market decisions
Don’t buys and sells by the institutional investors move markets? Is it good to mimic the moves of fund managers? Yes, it is, but you can seldom act quickly, to time your entry and exits precisely. Instead, use institutional interest as a filter for your stock choices.
A quick check to see if the stock you bought is also owned by institutions may add to the comfort factor, in owning a stock. Like we said earlier, if you take interest in the company, track developments closely and do your homework, you can also build a creditable portfolio
Thousands have lost money in the current meltdown. But there were a few others who saw it coming. We know of a person who had a portfolio worth several lakhs, but gradually reduced his exposures and exited the markets when the Sensex was at 15,000 levels sometime in 2007. His explanation: The market was heating up and he had made enough money.
It is a must that you have a target on the returns that you want to make from stocks each year. Once the stocks or funds reach that particular target, you must have the discipline to book profits. Equally important is the need to curtail losses.
If a 25 per cent erosion in capital is all what you can bear, don’t wait for anyone else to prompt you. You can cut exposures to the investment
An expert`s ADVICE,with regards

At the end of the week we shall relax!!
tell me.............
If money dosent grow on trees then why do banks have branches ?
Why does a round pizza come in a square box ?
Why dosen`t glue stick to its bottle ?
Why do you still call it building when its already built ?
If it is true that we are here to help others, what are others here for ??
If you arent supposed to dring and drive why do bars have parking lot?
WE ARE A FUNNY BUNCH OF PEOPLE, living in a seriously funnyworld.
Think about it andnever let that smile fadeoff your profits.
Trade for profits, If losses.. enjoy it also.

Dear Friend, Just apply common sense. 20% mly return, translates into doubling ur money in 5 months flat. Is this a joke? If the investment offered by the co. is so tempting & at the same time is safe, why the whole world is running from pillar to post to earn some 8-12% annual return.
In plain words the scheme is a fraud, plz. don`t invest at all. I w`d say its an open cheating, a day light robbery.
Thanks
Ashal...

Dear Friends
Please don’t believe those guys who are propagating wrong misguiding messages every time they have got some definite intensions. They just say opposite to what is actually anticipated (from different aspects including technical analysis) to happen causing panic amongst people. If you give a close look to the address of the said ‘authors’, you will find that they almost remain the same every time, at times in the form of “guests” too!. Do you think that they have got enough time to give gratis without any interest in their favour? Try to recollect those days in the month of August, September when the same people were saying HDIL would reach 400, 500 or 600, shortly.
HDIL has not done bad in Q2 (The aforesaid ‘authors’ are misquoting and misrepresenting the result). Rather it has negotiated successfully the annual lean period in Civil Engineering Industry - June to September, when construction activities are occasionally intercepted by heavy rains, floods, non availability of construction items and raw materials, etc. This is also a period when people do not purchase home for different social, cultural and religious reasons. Furthermore, in this year 2008 we have witnessed High Inflation, High Bank Interest, Terribly Bad Global Cues, etc. We should not forget that the average Indian End Users are different from rest of the world in the so many ways including cultural, socio-economical and philosophical.
We should remember that in the stock market, the well informed Big Professional Investors will do whatever they want to and mint money according to any situation. Only the ill informed retail investors loose heavily. Hence, we should enhance our own knowledge base, collect information from authentic sources e.g the direct web sites/ publications, results from the company itself, and move accordingly.
Now, situations have started improving by virtue of RBI, SEBI and GOVT. interventions. HDIL has got well diversified sale-plans. They are not solely depending on a single customer circle/ sale plan. Hence they have done better and will do better in future. So Don’t SORT. Always be positive: BUY HDIL at this level.
